I went back to that library that's about 15 minutes away. I returned 4 of the CD's from last time....and took out 8 more!
Deee-Lite-World Clique (I'm still a geek for Groove is in the Heart) Jackson Browne-Very Best of (Thanks Pete!) Classic MTV:Class of 1983 (Lots of great stuff here that I already got on the Just Can't Get Enough series like The Flirts, Jane Weidlen and Sparks, The Members and The Call, but the real find here is Why Me? by Planet P!!) Heavy Metal Hits of the '80s. Volume 2 : Youth Yone Wild The Best of the Girl Groups, Volume 1 The Best of the Girl Groups, Volume 2 The British Invasion:The History of British Rock, Volume 2 Metal Age:The Roots of Metal (This is a now out of print compilation from Rhino. I took out this very copy from this library years ago. Just recently I was thinking how cool it'd be to get again, and I couldn't remember the real title! Well I got it now! Has tracks by Angel, Spooky Tooth, The Runaways, Status Quo, Hawkwind, Beck, Bogert & Appice, UFO and more!)
I've gotten others sent to my library, but I'll let those build up for another post!
Whattya think?

These are all checked out? Not bought?
What are the tracks by Spooky Tooth, Hawkwind and Status Quo? Well, the latter must be "Pictures of Matchstick Men". But I don't see that as "roots of metal"!

Oooh, some of these sound really cool.
I'm especially interested in the MTV Class of 83 one. And the Metal Age:Roots one sounds intriguing.
I think I actually used to own the Heavy Metal Hits one on cassette.

I never got the 1983 one, since I have everything on it elsewhere. Too bad they didn't do ones for other years, though.
Same with the British Invasion series. I only have volumes 4 & 5.
The one that really piques my intrest here is the Metal Age one. No luck finding it in my library system.
Amazed that you can take out so many at once! Do you copy them or just listen to them until it's time to return them?

Yep, checkd out. Is that bad? Ah, but not necessarily must be Matchstick Men! See this collection is not really hits! The Status Quo track is Caroline from 1973. Hawkwind is Silver Machine. Spooky Tooth is a cover of I Am the Walrus.

"Yep, checkd out. Is that bad? Ah, but not necessarily must be Matchstick Men! See this collection is not really hits! The Status Quo track is Caroline from 1973." Nope not bad at all. just wondeing if they have used stuff. The library I go to , they have tapes I check out sometimes, and used Lps, cassettes, and CDs I buy. Don't think I've heard "Caroline" by Status Quo.

That was actually the second metal compilation Rhino put out! Good variety too. About a week ago, I had 40 items out! Each individual library has different rules. One library I went to only allowed people to take 5 DVD's at once, no more.

I have Cilla Black from somewhere (possibly Time-Life AM Gold 1964) But a lot of stuff I just have no interest in getting an entire CD for.
