Since I'm home today, I thought I'd take a few to jot down some recent finds!
Rolling Stones-Between the Buttons I requested this one in my ongoing attempt to listen to ALL the Stones CD's. I feel quite Pete-like in that this is a CD without any hits (some might recognize Complicated from a commercial earlier this year) yet I ended up LOVING it! In fact, I'd have to say I love it better than their earlier albums. And Skylar became a fan of the Stones from me playing this disc! Some great tracks are Yesterday's Papers, Cool, Calm & Collected and My Obsession.
John Lennon-Rock and Roll I knew my own library had this, but I saw it one day on the "put back" rack and I just grabbed it. It's the remastered version with bonus tracks.
Go-Go's-Return to the Valley of the Go-Go's Skylar (and Bekki) heard this in their friend's car one day and I'll be damned if Skylar is going to learn music somewhere else! (Especially from the particular idiot) So I requested this. Funny side story: in the car on that trip Skylar said, "This is ok but it's not as rocky as the Rolling Stones." YES!!!!
Then 2 weeks ago we went to that library about 15 minutes away that I always have good luck at. This day was no exception. I got-
Steppenwolf-Born to Be Wild/A Retrospective (I have no Wolfie on disc) Rolling Stones-Metamorphosis Rolling Stones-Got Live if You Want it (both are the 02 remasters, as was Buttons) Paul McCartney-Give My Regards to Broad Street (never had this in any form) King Crimson-In the Court of the Crimson King (another I saw years ago on a radio list and never heard) Kid Rock-Devil Without a Cause (shut up, guilty pleasure) The Zombies-Odessey and Oracle (remaster with bonus tracks) Kings of Leon-Aha Shake Heartbreak (I own and really like the debut and I am getting into this one REALLY easily. This one may be better!) Elvis Presley-The Lost Album (ask if you don't know) Led Zeppelin-How the West Was Won Bob Dylan-30th Anniversary Celebration (The 6 person version of My Back Pages is worth the cost of admission alone!)
Bekki got Jo Dee Messina's Greatest Hits.
And I've since gotten Pink's I'm Not Dead. Shut up. You should all like it for the lyrics of Stupid Girls where she makes fun of the Paris & Nicole's of the world!
Whattya think?

Very cool selections, Adam. Let me know what you think of the King Crimson album. I've been thinking of possibly getting a CD or two from them, but I'm not very familiar with their music. Elvis' Lost Album sounds interesting - what period is it from?

Nice selections. I really should try to get more cds from the library than I do. I usually only go for the rare broadway musical cast albums.

Care of Cell 44 is the best!

I probably asked this before, but- these are all CDs you checked out, right? Any boughten ones? I think you did, but knowing me, I probably never answered. These are just borrowed, checked out. Unfortunately, the library don't sell very many CD's, and I'm sure these titles would be sucked up before I could get them.

Very cool selections, Adam. Let me know what you think of the King Crimson album. I've been thinking of possibly getting a CD or two from them, but I'm not very familiar with their music. Elvis' Lost Album sounds interesting - what period is it from? Well this is their "career disc". Greg Lake is singing lead, so it sounds like ELP. That would be your place to start. The Lost Album is a collection that the record label put together some years back. Basically it's the album he COULD HAVE put out at the time with the recordings he made at those sessions. It's sortof built around The Devil in Disguise being the single from the "album".

How did I miss this?
Rolling Stones-Between the Buttons I take it you have the UK version, which I also have. I was very impressed by the 2002 remasters, and have several of them.
John Lennon-Rock and Roll With the recent trend of "cover albums", it's interesting to see that John Lennon did it over 35 years ago! But, in all honesty, the story behind this album is far more interesting than the music it contains. Nothing wrong with what John was doing, but I'd rather hear the original versions and get original material from John instead.
Go-Go's-Return to the Valley of the Go-Go's ::sigh:: I wish my step-kids would get into cool music like your kids are, Adam, but unfortunately I got to them too late... As for the Go-Go's, I heard "We Got The Beat" the other day on the radio and REALLY wasn't in the mood for it..
Steppenwolf-Born to Be Wild/A Retrospective I have this, mainly for "Straight Shootin' Woman", but I also have all the old Dunhill CD's because I'm a pretty big fan, and this collection is somewhat weak IMO.
Stones-Metamorphosis Rolling Stones-Got Live if You Want it Don't have these yet.
Paul McCartney-Give My Regards to Broad Street Got this on vinyl. Should upgrade, but there's only really two tracks I care about ("No Values" and "Not Such A Bad Boy") that I don't have elsewhere. Again, who needs re-recordings?
The Zombies-Odessey and Oracle (remaster with bonus tracks) I got this from the library myself recently! Copied it, but have yet to really listen. I will eventually when the mood strikes me.
Led Zeppelin-How the West Was Won I recently copied a two DVD set of live Zeppelin performances that span their entire career., Not sure if this is it, though.
