Oh, but I AM here, Sat!! Of course I headed straight for this thread! But I can't say much for these picks, except for Human League. One of the few 80's New Wave acts to continue to have hits in the 90's. I only have their Greatest Hits, but it is one of the best compilations by an 80's New Wave artist I've ever heard. Faith Hill is always easy on the eyes, and "The Way You Love Me" was a pretty good song. Humble Pie are a legendary band, my brother had a double album by them called "Eat It!", but I never listened to it. Brian Hyland- I like "Gypsy Woman" and "The Joker Went Wild" Englebert Humperdink-Someone tried to tell me once that he had talent, but then again, someone also once tried to tell me that Wayne Newton actually did a good song.. I believe neither. Yes you are! And we tracked down Oscar (Lora) too! Whoa, at first I thought you left the "r" out of picks! LOL!! Engelbert, Wayne and Tom Jones can all go scratch. LMAO!!

I only feel qualified to make comment on 2: Faith Hill - SOOOO overplayed around here that I really don't care if I never heard another of her songs again. Radio killed the crossover country star around here. The Human League - one of my all time favorites. Have a few of their cd's. The best one is "Don't You Want Me" followed very closely by "Keep Feeling Facination" That is part of my problem with Faith-overplay. I don't want Martina to be overplayed, but a little more exposure would be nice!

Yay! My fave feature returns! Faith Hill--I enjoyed her when she first started out. She seemed so wholesome and down to Earth with a great voice--a little breath of fresh air. And then, Diva-itis set in, and all of a sudden--she became like the Whitney Houston of Country music. I'm not diggin' her no more. ;D And her appearance on the Grammies this past year (I think it was the Grammies) was sad. Seems like she couldn't hit the right notes to save her life. Sounded worse than somebody auditioning for American Idol. Ok--I'll stop now. No faves anymore. Human League--Love Keep Feelin' Fascination. Don't You Want Me is good too, but a little overplayed. Never cared for Human. Humble Pie--I think the only one I know is 30 Days in the Hole. Great song! I should investigate further. Engelbert Humperdinck--My mom absolutely loved this guy back in the day, so I grew up listening to him whether I wanted to or not. LOL! He's ok--but I had my fill of him when I was a kid. Having said that, the oldies station I had on in the car the other day played one of his songs, and I got a little nostalgic listening to it. But about halfway thru, I had had enough of it, and I had to change the station. Nostalgia only goes so far sometimes. Brian Hyland--Not bad. Fluffy, lightweight songs, but they're ok if you're in the mood for that kind of stuff. I always liked Sealed With a Kiss, and Gypsy Woman is probably my fave by him. The Bikini song is all right too, but it got annoying in a hurry.

Hey dodger! LOL about Faith! 3. That's quite a compilation! And I am impressed by your knowledge of the Pie catalog! Awwww, no kiddin'? (about doing my post) Actually, I think I JUST made the opinion post, and awhile later it was down! I picked up the Nice, Humble Pie, etc compliation at a used record store in England. It was a great little shop and all the records were like new. Got another vinyl collection (double album) called "White Boy Blues" that in addition to Eric Clapton & John Mayall, includes Jimmy Page, Peter Green, & Jeff Beck. The songs are all the ones they did before they became famous with other bands. Outstanding album with some great early British Blues tracks.

Faith Hill - She has a nice voice. That's all I'll say. Her music does nothing for me, but her husband's cute and they're cute together. Human League - Love 'em! I listen to their Greatest Hits all the time. Their music still holds up nicely for me. Faves: Human, Fascination, Don't You Want Me, Mirror Man Humble Pie - I only know C'mon Everybody and 30 Days In A Hole and of course that it was a jumping ground for Frampton. Don't really have an opinion... Englebert Humperdink - Heh. I once had a chance to see part of a live performance that he did at a casino a few years ago. He was dressed in white sequins with back-up singers in bikinis and they were performing the most unhip and pathetic version of "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder that I hope to ever hear in my lifetime. So wrong and so sad. Brian Hyland - He's the dude that did "Itsy Bitsy...purple... bikini"? I hate that song. Oy!

Faith Hill- Like Shania, she's one of the many singers who have abandoned their country roots to become the next Celine Dion. What a shame. The only song I really liked of hers was "Let Me Let Go".
Human League- They were good back in the day. "Don't You Want Me Baby" was kind of annoying to me, but "Fascination" was pretty good.
Humble Pie- I've never heard of him.
Engelbert Humperdinck- Even the name brings chuckles...especially since he had a rather normal name beforehand.
Brian Hyland- I've heard of him, but don't recall any hits.

(But not great-that's Martina. ) and you are right-that performance was BAD. Check out more of the Pie! LOL about Engelbert!

Are you sure that Engelbert performance wasn't me and the Music Clique Babes?? (Oh wait, you were one of them!)

Yeah, apparently the lure of being a DIVA is more important than being a good singer. Actually, Humble Pie is a them. But that would be good, "Hello, Mr Pie!"

Faith Hill- Last thing I remember from her is "Take another piece of my Heart", that old Janis Joplin song.... I haven't been listening to modern country lately.....
Human League- Can't put any songs to that name.
Humble Pie- I draw a blank on this one.
Engelbert- I always liked his music... Right now my favorite Engelbert song is "Red Roses for my Lady"
Brian Hyland- He did that Itsy-Bitsy bikini song that is OVERPLAYED by the "good-time oldies" station... Most of those oldies stations think you want ONLY the #1 hits of an artist.... I have him singing "Sealed with a Kiss" in German....

GREAT to see ya back with it! I tried some 50's artists on ML, with mediocre response. But this is the REAL deal! And of course along the way, expect lots of requests from me. I had already covered the Human League and Engelbert Humperdinck on ML (along with Johnny Horton, Hot Chocolate and the Hudson Brothers). Well here I go!
Faith Hill-Well, I'm not too crazy over most of the country-to-pop crossover singers of today, save Shania ;D. But at least Faith is good looking and has a good voice. I'm not sick of "Breathe" as I used to be, and I don't mind "Cry" and her Pearl Harbor song "There'll you'll be".
Human League-Great 80's electro-pop band. Love their earlier stuff like "Don't you want me" and "Fascination". Even their '86 release "Crash" is good. And their two uncharted albums from 1990 and 1995 should not be forgotten. Very worthy.
Engelbert Humperdinck-Although I'm slowly getting into lighter pop artists today, I'm still not too used to Engelbert yet. But I do like "After the lovin".
Humble Pie-Not too familiar with their music, but I'm familiar with "Hot 'n Nasty". Also a 1980 comeback tune "Fool for a pretty face". Peter was awesome with them!
Brian Hyland-My fave of the 5 this time. Love the "bikini" tune still, and LOVE "The joker went wild" and "Gypsy woman". Also some more obscure ones like "Ginny come lately" and "Run run look and see". Still not too used to "Sealed with a kiss" yet...

Engelbert Humperdinck: Garanteed to be heard on the local adult contemp station at least once an hour. Great to fall asleep to (and isn't necessarily a bad thing, imo. LOL!)
Brian Hyland-_ MY favorite song of his is "Sealed with a Kiss".:
Several years ago I saw an oldies retrospective on which was footage of Brian singing this song. The thing that surprised me was that the kids dancing to it were doing "the jerk". I guess it DOES have "that" beat, but I'd never tho't of it being a song to "jerk" by...(Ok, by which to do the jerk)
