You know,it's funny.Back in the 70s,when disco dominated the airways,I spent most of my time listening to the current rock music. Now,that I am approaching 40,I find myself really enjoying disco a whole lot more. There were groups I liked all along, like KC and the Sunshine Band, but now I seem to appreciate it more.Think that's odd?

Nah, I for one don't think it's odd. I hated disco for MANY years, but when I got older, I learned to appreciate stuff like KC, Bee Gees, etc.

No I don't think it's odd either . Back in the 70's I was listening to a bit of everything including disco . I didn't like every disco song but I did enjoy The Bee Gees , KC , Donna Summer etc. Compared to what's considered "music " on top 40 radio today alot of those disco songs sound pretty good. Aside from the odd drum machine at least they were still playing instruments back then.

I think in the 70's it was just "cooler" to hate disco than to like it.
I personally have always liked it, but I'm picky! I love KC, The Bee Gees, Tavares, and Chic, but I'm not too crazy about the "Cheesier" stuff (Village People, etc...)

No, it's not odd. You've just broadened your horizons. I remember that it was cool to not like disco in the late 70's when Punk and New Wave were the new thing. Remember the guy in the movie "Stripes" who had the sweatshirt that said "Death Before Disco"? Anyway, I am still a "Disco Queen". I would really love to go rollerskating to the old 70s tunes, but I can't find anyone to go with.

Not at all! I think a lot of people have been embracing disco in recent years. I've always loved disco music, especially artists such as The Bee Gees, Donna Summer, KC and the Sunshine Band, Chic, etc. Listening to one of their songs always gets me in a great mood!

How 'bout goin' with me, 70'sChild???!!! I am a rare breed. I LOVED it from Day 1, never wished it died, LOVED it (when everyone else HATED it) throughout the 80's, and now that there are umpteen "dance parties" on the radio and mucho disco compilation CD's, I don't like it QUITE as much as I did in the old days, but I really miss the good ol' days way back when. If I can only get a CD with Jimmy "Bo" Horne and Gonzalez, that would be SWEET!!!!!!

Why was disco soooo hated anyway?? I never figured that out - it's catchy, upbeat, and fun! I read somewhere that listening to disco music is a natural anti-depressant! I'm with DJ Dave and 70s Child.....lets go Roller-Disco!! WOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I think one of the reason I really hated disco back in the 70s was it was all that was on the radio. I was living in England in the late 70s/early 80s and rock music barely got a toehold on the charts. I just really got tired of it. I turned to country & 60s rock and sometimes just turned off the radio. Anyway, today I find it's not so bad, and I can listen to it in small doses, every once in a while, which is just fine.

I could have typed this same response myself. I agree completely...loved it when I was a child and through the 80's when it was VERY uncool to like disco. When the revival really kicked in around 1994 I started burning out on it and have never really gotten the good feeling back for it. Still, I always enjoy hearing KC & the Sunshine Band, Hot Chocolate, Patrick Hernandez, Heatwave, Sylvester, The Trammps, Instant Funk, Peter Brown and others of that time frame.

[glow=red,2,300]I like Disco as well. My mom has the record to Saturday Night Fever and I have a few disco CD's. I like the Bee Gees as well as Donna Summer. It has a nice beat to it amd it is really hard to sit still while you are listening to it. I like to play an arcade game that involves getting on a dance-floor thing and stepping on arrows to music, and some of the songs are disco-ish like "It's Raining Men", "Freak Out", and "In the Navy". They are pretty fun to do. I have never roller-discoed before but it sounds like fun. [/glow]
