Three more suggestions. It makes typing easier for me, since I don't have much to say. LOL!
Waylon Jennings-From 55dodger. Legendary country singer. Outlaw singer at that! LOL! Not familiar with any specific songs.
Lemonheads-From Pete. Only know their cover of Mrs. Robinson. Did they have other singles? (Seriously!)
Lemon Pipers-From Dave. LOVE Green Tamborine. I know Rice is Nice is on the flip of the re-issued single, but I never bothered to listen to it.
Gary Lewis & the Playboys-sort of the American equivalent of bands like Freddie and the Dreamers. Except these guys actually had a few good songs. But they were a "goofy" band, and sort of on the "whimpy" side. Actually had 7 top 10 hits during the Beatle era, all are good, my faves being the best. Faves-She's Just My Style, This Diamond Ring, Green Grass.
Huey Lewis & the News-I always sorta lumped them in with Billy Joel where they tried hard to be cool and "hard" sounding. Plus both artists were the types that at the time adults listened to and thought they were "cool". But hey, he had craploads of hits! Most are just bland to me. Faves-Do You Believe in Love (Great one!), Power of Love, Walking on a Thin Line.
And you?

Howdy Sat! Waylon: Not too bad, but my brother "Fox" really enjoys his music. RIP. Lemonheads: Can't comment. Lemon Pipers: Green Tambourine was such a great tune! Have also heard "Rice is Nice" and "Jelly Jungle". Gary Lewis: Yes! The best one today! Such great times in the 60's! Another figure I gre to idolize; not too distant from my own voice; plus he's a drummer like me! Gee, I guess wished were him. Just LOVE all his top 40 hits; "Diamond Ring" is one of the 60's BIG BOSS tunes!!! Huey Lewis: You said it, looked cool for adults! One of the 80's better rock singers, I also liked his take in the 90's of some remakes like "But it's all right". BR

[glow=green,2,300]Waylon Jennings-I believe he did the theme to "The Dukes of Hazzard"...that's about all I know though. My parents could tell you more about him.
Lemonheads-I really liked their cover of Mrs. Robinson. I used to know some of their other hits, but I can't think of the titles right now.
Lemon Pipers-I really can't say I've listened to them.
Gary Lewis & the Playboys- "Green Grass" was a decent hit.
Huey Lewis & the News-Hey...I just entered adulthood like 4 years ago, and I enjoy this band a lot...at least everything they did before 1987 anyway. My favourites include practically everything on "Sports" and "Stuck With You" and "Hip To Be Square".

More great ones! Gotta run soon, so I'll cut it quick:
Waylon Jennings-RIP. Some great country songs, like his pairings with Willie, and especially LOVE "Dukes of Hazzard".
Lemonheads-Played a few of their tunes in college. Best ones are Mrs. Robinson and Into your arms.
Lemon Pipers-YES! They even have a few CD compilations, if you can believe it (I own one from Collectibles). Supreme blend of bubblegum and psychedelia to say the least. Plus Ivan Browne's nasally voice gave the band a cool vocal gimmick. Faves: GREEN TAMBOURINE (Top 200 of all-time and YOU KNOW it!) Jelly jungle of orange marmalade (terrible injustice for not making the top 40) Rice is nice Blueberry blue Love beads and meditation Fifty year void Shoeshine boy I was not born to follow Shoemaker of leather square Danger
Gary Lewis & the Playboys--my fave today! Some of the best produced (Snuff Garrett) records ever. All their tunes really give me a good feeling inside. While they had so many great ones, all you need is their "10 best" hits CD. Faves: Count me in (SUPER chiming!) This diamond ring She's just my style Everybody loves a clown Sure gonna miss her Green grass You don't have to paint me a picture Save your heart for me (orig. done by Brian Hyland in 1963) My heart's symphony Where will the words come from Jill Girls in love
Huey Lewis & the News--Oh yeah, dig that 80's rock! I couldn't care less about anything after "Couple days off" though. Should go into the Hall by 2010. Faves: Do you believe in love The heart of rock 'n roll The power of love Jacob's ladder Heart and soul Couple days off I want a new drug Perfect world Back in time Stuck with you If this is it Workin' for a livin' Small world Hip to be square

Waylon Jennings - A country legend and a member of Buddy Holly's Crickets - how cool . I know he was married to Jessi Colter who had that big hit I'm Not Lisa back in '75 . I really don't know that many songs by him ( I should investigate more) - Faves - Lukenbach Texas , Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys (With Willie)
Lemonheads - I remember when their cover of Mrs. Robinson came out . The only other song I know which is a GREAT pop tune is Into Your Arms . What does Evan Dando do now? - Faves - Mrs Robinson and Into Your Arms.
The Lemon Pipers - Great 60's bubblegum / Psychedelic pop. I have a couple of their Buddah singles . First heard Green Tambourine back in the late 70's when I bought K-tel's Flashback Fever . Faves - Green Tambourine , Blueberry Blue, Jelly Jungle and Rice is Nice
Gary Lewis / Playboys - I believe Leon Russell arranged a few of Gary's hits if I remember correctly . I love so many of his songs . Have quite a few on 45 - Faves : Save Your Heart For Me , This Diamond Ring (also on that Ktel Record listed above) , Count Me In , She's Just My Style and Sure Gonna Miss Her.
Huey Lewis & The News - I have I think four of his albums on CD a few singles one cassette and an LP . My vinyl copy of Sports was played to death back in back in the 80's. Great Pop / Rock - he sure could play harmonica - Faves: Heart and Soul , Do You Believe in Love , Walking on A Thin Line , Trouble in Paradise , Jacob's Ladder , Power of Love , Build Me Up , The Heart of Rock and Roll ,Workin' For a Livin', Whole Lotta Lovin' I Want a New Drug and Some of My Lies are True

Waylon Jennings - Legend all the way. When Vh1 showed their "I Love the 80s" special, quite a few celebs were singing along to the Dukes theme, and I was singing right along with 'em. One of the best tv show themes, imo! I share Ken's favorites, especially Lukenbach, Texas. Lemonheads - Mrs. Robinson Lemon Pipers - Green Tamborine.. great song. Gary Lewis and the Playboys - This Diamond Ring, Everybody Loves a Clown Hewis Lewis and the News - I had a really big crush on Hewis Lewis at the time.. grrr. Loved their music! After seeing American Psycho, it's d a m n near impossible for me to not think of a particular scene in the movie when I hear "Hip To Be Square". Faves: Hip To Be Square, If This Is It, I Want A New Drug, The Heart of Rock 'n Roll, The Power of Love, Stuck With You

Waylon Jennings - A country legend who was very influential as part of the "Outlaw" movement back in the mid 70's. He's recorded many great songs, both with Willie Nelson and as a solo artist. Favorites: Clyde, Luckenbach, Texas, Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, Amanda, Theme from Dukes of Hazzard.
Lemonheads - I've heard the name, but I'm not familiar with any of their songs.
Lemon Pipers - I only know 'Green Tambourine', which is a cool song, very of its time. I probably should investigate further.
Gary Lewis & the Playboys - I sometimes forget how much I like this group until I see a listing of all their hits. Great mid-60's pop. Favorites: Everybody Loves a Clown, This Diamond Ring, Green Grass, Count Me In, Sure Gonna Miss Her.
Huey Lewis & the News - One of the most successful artists of the 80's. I really enjoy their material up through Small World, but after that it went downhill, especially Huey's duet on the remake of 'Cruisin'. Favorites: Heart and Soul, The Power of Love, Perfect World, Small World, If This is It, Do You Believe in Love.

Waylon Jennings- Not really familiar with his music. I do know Lukenbach Texas with Willie. Waylon's biggest claim to fame might be the fact that he gave up his seat to Richie Valens on the ill-fated plane ride on February 3, 1959. Lemonheads- Don't know them. Lemon Pipers- Green Tambourine was their biggest, and it's a real good song, but I like their other singles better. Rice Is Nice is my favorite (love dem violins). ..And Jelly Jungle: "...take a ride on my pogo stick jump up and down, and do that trick. I'll play a beat on your pumpkin drum...." This is bubblegum Gary Lewis & the Playboys- Yeah they had a few good songs , my faves are This Diamond Ring and Save Your Heart for Me, but I never cared for Gary's voice. It's totally tuneless. Gary, incidently, is the son of comedian Jerry Lewis. Huey Lewis & the News- I'll buy into the "bland" thing, Sat. I listened to their music, but never cared enough for it to really delve into it. Favorites: Jacobs Ladder, Heart of Rock and Roll, Power of Love, Stuck with You. (but none of them are Top 200 material.)

Waylon Jennings - Probably my favorite country singer. Carried me through the dark days of disco in the late 70s. His records & tapes form one of the largest parts of my country & western collection. Very distinctive voice, that in my opinion really stands out (unlike Willie's voice which gets on my nerves after a while). Some of his album cuts were pretty decent covers of other people's hits, Steely Dan's Do It Again, Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline, The Animal's House of the Rising Sun, & Jimmy Buffet' He Went to Paris, to name a few. Did some decent duets with Willie (Last Cowboy Song, Good Hearted Woman), Jessi Colter (Suspicious Minds), & and the Highmen (The Highwayman). Buddy Holly's bass player, gave up his seat on that fateful flight. Favorites (not already mentioned): Bob Wills is Still the King, Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, Sweet Music Man, Amanda, Ladies Love Outlaws, & Honky Tonk Heroes
Lemonhead - ?
Lemon Pipers - Green Tambourine is a good song
Gary Lewis & the Playboy - Ok 60s group, nothing special. Favorites: This Diamond Ring, Sealed with a Kiss
Huey Lewis - Got Sports on vinyl & Four Chords on CD. Good group. Sports (and all the hits that came from it) is probably is best known album, but I prefer the Four Chords CD (it's more fun). Favorites: But It's Alright, Stagger Lee, Heart & Soul, Heart of Rock & Roll, I Want A New Drug.

Waylon Jennings-My brother has his Greatest Hits on vinyl. I should borrow it. I like "Luckenbach, Texas". Plus, he was the narrator of one of my favorite childhood TV shows!!
Lemonheads-It's so hard to believe it was 10 years ago, but they were my FAVORITE band in 1993! I LOVED the CD "It's A Shame About Ray" better than ANYTHING that came out of Seattle at the time! They had folk and country-rock influences, and the songs had melody and emotion! Plus, they were from Boston... LOCAL boys!!They were going to be HUGE, "The Folk Nirvana" was how Atlantic promoted them, but they didn't become huge. Why? Because their leader, Evan Dando, was an IDIOT!! He actually told a reporter in England that his voice "was all screwed up because I've been up smoking crack all night!" Then, after Kurt Cobain died, photos started circulating of him in bed with Courtney (she got around!). Their 1993 follow-up album "Come On Feel The Lemonheads" had it's moments, but was nowhere NEAR "Ray", which I thought was a masterpiece! (Seriously, if there is ONE album from the 1990s worth checking out, THIS is it!). By the time their 1996 album "Car Button Cloth" came out, they were pretty much over. The sad thing is that people only know them for "Mrs. Robinson" and "Into Your Arms", neither of which they wrote. As messed up as Evan Dando was, he could write some GOOD songs!! Faves-Confetti, It's A Shame About Ray, Rudderless, Hannah & Gabi, Half The Time, Down About It.
Lemon Pipers-I know three songs, "Green Tamborine", "Rice Is Nice", and "Jelly Jungle". I like them all, I love bubblegum music!
Gary Lewis & The Playboys-Fun group. I have the "Legendary Masters Series" CD. I don't listen to it much these days, but there are some good hits, especially the later ones (such as "Where Will The Words Come From)! Hard to believe "Green Grass" actually got BANNED!
Huey Lewis & The News-I LOVED the Sports album in 1984. Every song on it was great! But I hated "Fore!", with the exception of maybe "Jacob's Ladder". "Perfect World" was a great song, but I didn't buy the album.

Waylon Jennings - My boyfriend is a fan so I've learned to enjoy some of this outlaw's songs. Faves: Brown-eyed Handsome Man, Good 'Ol Boys, Good Hearted Woman
Lemonheads - I hate freakin' Evan Dando but I guess there are some of the band's stuff that I can stomach. Almost faves: Into Your Arms, It's A Shame About Ray, Big Gay Heart
Lemon Pipers - Don't know the band but know the song "Green Tamborine". Faves: that one I guess
Gary Lewis & The Playboys - Another band that blends together in my brain with Paul Revere/Raiders, Gary Puckett/Union Gap etc. I know the songs but I never know which goes with whom. Faves: This Diamond Ring, My Heart's Symphony
Huey Lewis & The News - I love Huey's voice. Some of their stuff is lame though and a little dated. I like their older stuff better. Faves: Do You Believe In Love, Tell Me A Little Lie, Is It Me, If This Is It
