Continuing with the L's!
Jerry Lee Lewis-An original member of the Hall of Fame. In actuality, he didn't have a whole lot of hits. But the ones he had were legendary, and it was his piano playing style and rebel attitude that made him what he is. There was some story about him showing up at Graceland with a gun, demanding to see Elvis! LOL! Actually, my fave tune by him is a duet with the King. Another legendary Sun Records artist. Faves-Hello Josephine (w/Elvis), Breathless. (Tired of the others)
Gordon Lightfoot-Canada's very own. I think he is dismissed as being a lite rocker, but I think he was a damn good writer! All four of his top ten hits are great, and if you don't know Beautiful, check it out! And-was I the only one who thought the song was called "Every Highway" and not Carefree?? LOL! Just recently picked up his Rhino collection, so I should be learning more soon. Faves-Beautiful, Carefree Highway, Sundown.
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force-In the same league with The Jets, Debarge, etc. Meaningless mid 80s danceable pop. I'll pass. Faves-(If I HAD to pick one) Head to Toe.
Little Anthony & the Imperials-One of those artists that went into the Hall by default when they were on the ballot so many years. Pretty decent doo wop/R&B outfit that I think is pretty much overlooked on oldie radio these days. Good stuff, but I never thought about picking up a collection. Faves-Goin' Out of My Head, Hurt So Bad, Tears on My Pillow.
Little Feat-Almost had TWO legendary piano players today, until I remembered to include Little Feat. Somewhat of a misplaced band. Not commercial enough for AM (they had no Hot 100 hits), but not really pure country or anything else. Truth be told, I only know two songs. The one that inspired the Dixie Chick name, and their 88 FM radio hit, Woman I'd Hate to Lose Your Lovin'. Maybe I'll check out more someday. Faves-Dixie Chicken, Woman I'd Hate to Lose Your Lovin'.
And you?

Jerry Lee Lewis - This is a guy who's created quite a bit of controversy in his lifetime, and has had numerous personal tragedies. Despite all that, he's made his mark on both pop and country music, and is a tremendously talented musician. Favorites: Breathless, Great Balls of Fire.
Gordon Lightfoot - One of the premier singer-songwriters of the 70's. His songs are always well-crafted, and have a timeless quality. I agree with you about 'Beautiful' - why this wasn't a bigger hit is beyond me. Favorites: Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, Carefree Highway, Rainy Day People, Beautiful.
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam with Full Force - Never liked them at all. I had a compilation tape with 'I Wonder If I Take You Home' on it, and I always used to fast-forward past that song!
Little Anthony & the Imperials - Very versatile group. I only know four of their hits, but all of those are great. Favorites: Goin' Out of My Head, Hurt So Bad.
Little Feat - Not a group I know much about. They performed at a 4th of July concert in my area 2 or 3 years ago - I probably should have checked it out. Favorite: Dixie Chicken.

Jerry Lee Lewis- One of the first big scandals of the rock era was that Jerry Lee had married his 13 year old cousin. He was an original Bad Boy. But he could rock and he could play the piano. Faves include: Great Balls Of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On, Breathless. Also like the 1985 30-year reunion album he made with Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins called "Class of 55. Jerry Lee soloed on several of the songs including a very good version of 16 Candles.
Gordon Lightfoot- Superstar in Canada, and it's a crime he isn't one in the US as well. Great singer, great songwriter, great musician. Faves: The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. (How do you turn a mournful dirge into a hit record is beyond me, but he did it) Also Sundown, If You Could Read My Mind, Carefree Highway.
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force- As I've said often, I'm not a dance music fan, and I could care less about this group --- with one huge exception. Their soul ballad "All Cried Out" is on my Top 100 list.
Little Anthony & the Imperials- He actually hung around long enough to have the "Little" removed from his name. Verrry sweet voice. Songs had great arrangements. My favorites are: Going Out Of My Head, Two People In The World, Take Me Back, Outside Looking In, Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop, Tears On My Pillow, Hurt So Bad.
Little Feat- Heard of them , but don't know their music.

Jerry Lee Lewis - Quite a hell raiser - LOL . But he sure played a mean piano. He had some great tunes. Faves: Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin ' On , Great Balls Of Fire and High School Confidential.
Gordon Lightfoot - Yup one of Canada's finest . About a year ago the CBC aired a concert of his . And he's still got it! - Faves: Rainy Day People , Carefree Highway( yes I too at first thought it was "Every") , The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald , Sundown and If You Could Read My Mind ( I've often wondered what he thought of Stars on 54's cover version back in '98 /'99 ?? Hmmmm
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam - I remember hearing a couple of the songs but nothing really made an impression on me faves - none
Little Anthony and The Imperials - Occasionally hear Goin' out of My Head on the oldies station. There songs were timeless. Faves: Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko - Bop , Hurts So Bad , Tears on My Pillow and Goin' Out Of My Head.
Little Feat - RIP Lowell George . My oldest brother had(has) a couple of their albums in the house so I heard them quite often . Great musicians (Bill Payne boogies on that piano and Ritchie is an amazing Drummer . Faves : Willin' (an FM classic) , Oh Atlanta (the first tune I ever owned by them) , Feats Don't Fail Me Now , Texas Twister , Let it Roll , Dixie Chicken and I 'd Hate To Lose Your Lovin' .

Not too much to say about todays choices, but a couple of them I really like.
Jerry Lee Lewis-Great legendary artist, glad to see he's still going! I heard some of his later country singles, and they're good! Too bad he ruined his career. In the book "The Worst Rock N' Roll Records Of All Time" there are "The Top 33 1/3 Rules of Rock N' Roll", One of them states "WHATEVER you do, Jerry Lee Lewis has already done it.. Probably better, too".... 'nuff said!
Gordon Lightfoot-Best artist today! LOVE the Complete Greatest Hits. "Beautiful" may not have been a hit, but it is a favorite among fans at his concerts. I also really like "Stay Loose" and "The Circle Is Small"
Lisa Lisa With Cult Jam-I stopped liking Top 40 around the time of their first hit, so I can't say much.
Little Anthony & The Imperials-Perhaps the only 50's Doo-Wop group to have hits in the mid-60s. Their versions of "Goin' Out of My Head" and "Hurt So Bad" were better than the Lettermen's versions.
Little Feet-I have "Oh Atlanta" on a 70's compilation. It's an OK tune, I know nothing else...

I kinda wondered if Gordon was still around! Not being funny, but is that Stars on 45 or 54? You know, Alison Krause did a song called Oh Atlanta, and I figured it was a cover of their song (Since they are close to being country), but it was actually a cover of the Bad Company song! Weird!

I didn't even realize those Little Anthony tunes were cover versions! They aren't, Sat. It's the Lettermen versions that are the covers. They came out 3-4 years later than Little Anthony's

Jerry Lee Lewis--Anymore, probably better known for his antics than for his music. LOL! Nah--he'll be remembered for his great piano playing, I'm sure. I don't know too much by him--only the biggies, I guess. Faves: Great Balls of Fire; Breathless; Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On Gordon Lightfoot--I always thought he had a nice voice--don't know his music very well, though. But I REALLY don't like The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Faves: Sundown, Carefree Highway, If You Could Read My Mind Lisa Lisa/Cult Jam--No thanks. I suppose All Cried Out is ok. I'll pass on everything else. Little Anthony/Imperials--Don't know them well. I'm sure he's/they're quite talented, but I've never paid much attention to anything they've sung. LOL! Little Feat--I first discovered them when Linda Ronstadt covered a couple of their tunes. Then my brother let me borrow an album of theirs, and I thought if was good stuff! RIP Lowell George. Faves: Willin'; Dixie Chicken; Let it Roll; Feats Don't Fail Me Now; All That You Dream

1) Jerry Lee - I dig him. The original badboy. That whole marrying your cousin thing, however, was icky.
2) Gordon Lightfoot - I can't get into him. I give him props as a talented songwriter, but like Cat Stevens, and Harry Chapin (with the exception of the Taxi song) he's just a little to folky for me.
3) Lisa Lisa - I was in middle school when this was popular, and a rabid roller skater, so I gotta say I love it. Head to toe, and Lost In Emotion are such great fun songs. I got way sick of All Cried out, though. Too many young girls dedicating the song to their boyfriend of the week. (Geez, Sat - smashing my groups today - I will admit that DeBarge reeked, but The Jets were another of my favorites!)
4) Little Anthony - Again, props for being talented, but I never could get in to Doo-Wop. My mom loves it.
5) Little Feat - Not my style.
