Better late than never! (Damn internet!!) Kenny Loggins-Another example of an artist going solo and not being as good (SEE separate entry today). Not that that is a bad thing. I like some of his solo stuff. Just like I like Phil Collins stuff, but not as much as Genesis. Best thing Kenny ever did as a solo artist, by far was teaming up with Stevie on Whenever I Call You Friend, one of my all time faves. Some good pop stuff. Faves-Whenever I Call You Friend, Don't Fight it (W/Steve Perry), Heart to Heart. Loggins and Messina-These guys were better than people realize. Messina seems to become a band member almost by default. He was producer and engineer for Kenny and Buffalo Springfield, and ended up joining up with them! Their greatest hits album needs to be updated with FULL LENGTH album versions of songs! In the meantime, I got some vinyl. Faves-Angry Eyes, House at Pooh Corner, My Music. Love-Ok, JUST NOW getting into them. I finally used a gift certificate and broke down and got the 2 disc set. Their music is eclectic to say the least! Some sounds like garage bands, some like the Stones, some like the Byrds, some like Pepper. Legendary for their Forever Changes album from the Summer of Love. Have a cult following. It's slow going now, but I have found a couple winners. Faves-My Little Red Book, Alone Again Or, Softly to Me. Patty Loveless-One of the few traditionalists in country today. Actually, my initial exposure to her was a few years back on what was probably her most poppy effort, but she since reverted course, and made a total bluegrass album. Respected in the country field, not as well known in the pop world. Faves-Last Thing on My Mind, That's the Kind of Mood I'm in, The Boys are Back in Town. Loverboy-I always say they were part of the "second wave" of arena rockers with Billy Squier and Night Ranger. Totally laughed at today (Remember the video with the drummer playing with gas pumps??) but they had good stuff that was popular at the time. I remember seeing an interview with Mike Reno, where he said Nirvana killed his career. Got news for ya Sparky, the HAIR BANDS killed your career, and grunge killed that! Hey, I got a Greatest Hits of theirs! Faves-When it's Over, Turn Me Loose, Working For the Weekend. And you?

Kenny Loggins - He was on quite a roll there for a while . Great voice . Faves: Don't Fight it (with Steve) , I'm Alright , Footloose and Whenever I Call You Friend.
Loggins + Messina - I've always included them in with the singer / songwriter genre of the early 70's, their music just reminds me of that style - My Oldest brother was a big fan and has a few of the albums.
I have the 45's of "Your Mama" (some people are probably tired of this one but I have great chilhood memories of hearing it ) and My Music plus I included Angry Eyes on a homemade CD compilation. Faves: Angry Eyes , My Music , House at Pooh Corner and Your Mama Don't Dance.
Love - Adam you and I have talked about the band a few times . They were apparently one of Jim Morrison's favorite L.A. bands . I really should check more of their stuff out . I have My Little Red Book on 45 and Seven and Seven is , is included on the first Nuggets box. Faves : My Little Red book and Seven and Seven Is.
Patty Loveless : I really like alot of Patty's tunes . When I saw her on Austin City Limits a while back she was doing some of the bluegrass material. I haven't heard anything from her lately . Faves: I Try To Think About Elvis , Hurt Me Bad (in a Real Good Way) , Little Bit in Love , Blame it on Your Heart and Lonely Too Long.
Loverboy - I recieved their debut album as a birthday gift back in '80 . They had some great songs . Matt is a great drummer ( I remember that video with the gas pumps LOL. Faves: Queen of The Broken Hearts , When It's Over , Working for The Weekend , The Kid is Hot Tonight and Hot Girls in Love .

Lovely list today.
Kenny Loggins - I like a lot of his solo stuff, much more than I do Phil Collins. I have several of Kenny's solo albums. I will say that some of his most recent stuff is HIGH on the cheese level but I love the early solo stuff especially the "Friend" duet with Stevie - one of the best songs ever recorded. Faves: Whenever I Call You Friend, Celebrate Me Home, I'm Free, This Is It, I Believe In Love, Why Do People Lie
Loggins & Messina - Opens up the floodgates of memory. Played so much when I was growing up. I got their 3 disc box set (which really isn't a box set just a collection of their first 3 albums) for Xmas and its never far from my stereo. Faves: Vahevala, Angry Eyes, Danny's Song (but dayyyum is it overplayed on radio!), Watching The River Run, Be Free
Love - My boyfriend loves 'em. I don't really have an opinion, but I've always been surprised that they weren't more popular. Their songs have been covered by really diverse artists from Billy Bragg to The d**ned. Faves: Softly To Me, Seven And Seven Is
Patty Loveless - I don't like her voice much at all. I respect her for being "traditional" but her music (or I should say her voice) does nothing for me.
Loverboy - I'll confess...I loved their stuff in the 80s. It's nostalgic fun now. Mike Reno is NOT aging well IMO. It makes it hard to believe that was his butt on the "Get Lucky" album cover in that red leather! LOL! Faves: Turn Me Loose, Lucky Ones, When It's Over, Hot Girls In Love, Working for The Weekend
Hey Sat, what about the band Love & Rockets? Any chance you'd list them?

Ken, I meant to message you directly with a review of the Love disc, but I was still getting into it, and all of the sudden, it came their time on the list! LOL!! Didn't know about Morrison, but Robert Plant liked them too. Many punk and metal groups also, including UFO who covered them!

Kenny Loggins-Could very well be my fave today. I don't own a full CD by him, but upon realizing how many hits he had, I should get a Greatest Hits. I remember when "Friend" was on your Insane list, and it was mentioned that Melissa Manchester was supposed to sing on it, and she was hurt when Stevie was chosen instead. I saw Melissa perform the song on "The Muppet Show" with Rolf the dog, she said it was "her favorite song", I never knew the whole story behind that until you mentioned it. Back to Loggins, I was never crazy about "Footloose", but I LOVE "This Is It", "I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man)", "Vox Humana", "Danger Zone", "I'm Allright"... I REALLY need to get a collection!
Loggins & Messina-As much as I like Loggins, I never knew much of this stuff. I always knew "Your Mama Don't Dance" from Poison's version, so I'm scarred for life.
Love-Good band, very unique for their time. Some of their song titles were hilarious. I have the 1966 album "Da Capo", which contains what I believe is the first ever side-long composition. The Hooters were another band that covered them. Faves-Stephanie Knows Who, She Comes In Colors, My Little Red Book, 7 and 7 is.
Patty Loveless-Heard of her, don't know her music.
Loverboy-Very cheesy band, but some of the songs were really good! LOVE the girl in the "Hot Girls in Love" video! Faves-Workin' For The Weekend, Lovin' Every Minute Of it, Hot Girls In Love
I was going to suggest Love & Rockets too, but didn't think anybody would remember them, Or would see them as a one hit wonder. Anyway, they get my vote!

I've debated about getting that 3 disc set of their albums myself! I saw Loverboy at a local fest, at arms length from them. Kinda sad for them. I noticed Pete suggested them too. Ok, I'll put em in tomorrow!

Kenny Loggins - An artist I've always liked, although I have a tendency to forget about him when I'm thinking of favorite artists. Nice mainstream pop style. Favorites: Keep the Fire, This is It, I'm Alright, Whenever I Call You Friend. Loggins & Messina - I need to investigate their music more closely, but what I've heard, I really like. Many of the songs have more of a country-rock flavor than Kenny's solo hits. Favorites: House at Pooh Corner, My Music, Thinking of You, Your Mama Don't Dance. Love - I only know one song, 'My Little Red Book', which is great! Patty Loveless - I'm sure I've heard a few of her songs, but can't recall any titles offhand. Loverboy - GREAT group! I loved their music when I was in high school, and still do. A little cheesy, but they made some great music! Favorites: Lovin' Every Minute of It, Hot Girls in Love, Working for the Weekend, Queen of the Broken Hearts, When It's Over, This Could Be the Night (my senior prom theme!

I remember you saying that you were going too, still keep me posted on what that disc set is like once you've listened to it . I didn't know that about UFO - cool:) I've listened to disc 1 several times, that is why the songs I listed are from that one (another good tune is Can't Explain). Listened to the second one only once or twice. But I will keep you posted!!

The more country sound was Messina's influence! I'm sure you'd like Patty since you like that traditional sound! This Could Be the Night-surprised it was the prom theme-that has more than one meaning! LOL!!

Kenny Loggins - Did alright in his solo career, espeically when a soundtrack was involved. Matter of fact, those are about the only songs I like, the soundtrack songs. I'll take his years with Jim Messina over his solo career anyday. Favorites: Danger Zone, Footloose
Loggins & Messina - One of the great duets of the 70s. They always sounded like they were having so much fun just making music, and their songs reflected that. Should have stayed together. Favorites: Your Mama Don't Dance, Thinking of You, Danny's Song, My Music, Watching the River Run, House at Pooh Corner
Love - ?
Patty Loveless - Might be one of those country artists I need to check out, especially if she did a bluegrass album. I love bluegrass.
Loverboy - Outside of Working for the Weekend, wasn't really crazy about this group.

Kenny Loggins--Always liked him and his music. Had some good tunes that are a pleasant part of my memory bank. Faves: Footloose, I'm All Right, This is It, Don't Fight It, Whenever I Call You Friend, Celebrate Me Home (the latter two are my "favorite favorites" of his. LOL!) Loggins and Messina--More pleasant memories. LOVE the songs "My Music" and "House at Pooh Corner". Also like "Angry Eyes". My dad hated "Your Mama Don't Dance", so I enjoyed playing that at full blast when he was around, just to torment him. ;D Love--I know next to nothing about this group. My brother had an album by them, but I don't remember him ever playing it. LOL! Patty Loveless--Never cared much for her. Her voice is kinda nasally, or something. I mildly like that song "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" (I think that was her, wasn't it?) LOL! Loverboy--I know they're cheesy and all, but I really like 'em. ;D Mike Reno was pretty good lookin' back in the day. Not anymore. I also have a Greatest Hits CD of theirs!
