Manfred Mann- like him best in the Brit Invasion period. But love "Spirits in the Night"
Manhattan Transfer- very talented, but almost a novelty group. I watched their sumer-variety TV show. Fave: "Soul Food to Go".
Manilow- no. Some of his real early stuff isn't too bad,but there's nothing I really like.
Marshall Tucker- don't like the songs the radio plays all the time. Fave: "This Old Cowboy". Now why don't they plasy THAT!!!
Martha & Vandellas- should be in the Hall of Fame, their songs are classics! My favorites- "Heat Wave" and "Jimmy mack".

Manhattan Transfer - Continuing with my Bette connections, she sang with them once. The song was called "It's Gonna Take a Miracle". Can't remember which album it was from. Barry Manilow - Well of course I like him because he played for Bette! But he's a talent in his own right too. I love it in the movie "Can't Hardly Wait" when the guy who's in love with Jennifer Love Hewitt's character (Amanda) keeps hearing his "Mandy" over and over again on the radio. He thinks it's a sign that he and Amanda are meant to be together, but it turns out that it was Barry Manilow's birthday and they were playing the song every hour on the hour in his honor! Oh man, that was funny. But, back to Barry. My favorite song of his has to be "Copacabana" because my nickname is Lola and I just think that it's a cute song anyway. "Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there." I also like Mandy, I Write the Songs, and Looks Like We Made It. A lot of people are mentioning "Daybreak". How does that one go? Martha and the Vandellas - I like 'em, but not as much as the Supremes. Fave - Has to be "Heat Wave". I guess I'm really talkative today, because I have something else to say about them. Remember at the beginning of "Sister Act" (the first one) when Dolores (Whoopi) and her back-up singers are doing that medley and they sing "Heat Wave" as part of it? I love that scene. So many great tunes that they covered there. Plus, another Bette connection. Both of the girls playing Whoopi's back-up singers (Jennifer Lewis and Charlotte Crossley) used to sing for Bette! Man, am I on a roll this week with my Bette connections or what? Ha ha.

She turned it down, and Whoopi scooped it up.

If I hadn't been so damn tired last night, I would've answered this one! Manfred Man/Earth Band - Blinded By The Light, Mighty Quinn Manhattan Transfer - Boy From New York Barry Manilow - People love to hate him, and while I'm not a very big fan, the guy is talented and I do like a few of his songs. Faves: Copacabana (always fun to sing along to!), I Write The Songs, Mandy Marshall Tucker Band - I always thought it was "Pretty Little Love Song", too! *lol* I was listening to that particular song yesterday afternoon, so it's neat to see 'em on the list. Faves: Heard It In A Love Song, Fire On The Mountain Martha and the Vandellas - Nowhere to Run To, Heat Wave

Sesame Street - LOL - I started to watch it again when my nieces were little Mike D'abo -Yeah that is odd , because he mentions him joining the band in ' 67 but doesn't bother to add he was the vocalist Funny, my 91 Hot 100 book doesn't list D'abo at ALL!

Manfred Mann/Earth Band--I can remember my mom loving the song Quinn the Eskimo. I probably remember her singing it better than I do Manfred Mann. LOL! Anyway--don't know much by them beyond the hits, but I really like the hits. Good stuff! Manhattan Transfer--Yay! Thanks for including them. It's nice to see one of my suggestions being appreciated by some people. Usually when I think of someone to include, nobody knows them, or they don't like 'em. LOL! That's ok though. It's all good. Now I guess I should comment on the group. ;D One of my favorites from my youth. And it's funny, because I don't normally go for that jazzy kind of music. But I love the harmonies and their very distinct sound that they had. I have several albums by them, and a greatest hits CD that I haven't listened to in awhile, but I think I will have to very soon. I used to know all the members names. Let's see...Janis Siegel, Alan Paul, Tim Hauser, and...Laurel Massey(?). Laurel eventually left the group and was replaced by Cheryl Bentyne. Whew! That gave the ol' memory bank a workout. I think those names are correct. Some favorite songs: Trickle, Trickle, Operator (LOVE it), Gloria (LOVE it, too!), Tuxedo Junction, Java Jive, Twilight Zone, Route 66, and Boy from New York City. I could go on and on about this group, but that's quite enough for now. Barry Manilow--Y'know, I always say I don't like him much, but truth be told, he's an integral part of my childhood. I had a lot of his albums growing up, and a friend of mine absolutely LOVED him, so I had to hear about him all the time. LOL! I really do enjoy most of his songs, and one in particular, called Lay Me Down, is just exceptional. I believe it's on his live album, and I used to listen to that one all the time. Great song! So yeah, Mr. Manilow is ok in my book. ;D Marshall Tucker Band---I only know a couple of songs, but they're SO good. 'Specially Can't You See. An all time fave of mine. Also like Heard it in a Love Song. You know the lyric--"...Can't be wrong"? A friend of mine used to sing, in all seriousness: "Purty little love song--ten feet long". LMAO! ;D Martha/Vandellas--Martha Reeves has a great voice, and their songs are classics. I like 'em a lot. Faves: Heat Wave, Jimmy Mack, Nowhere to Run, Dancin' in the Street. Damn, you must be in the Manhattan Transfer fan club!

No, I just assumed they where next in line on your list since they are next in line after Manhattan Transfer in the old Joel Whitburn book I was looking at. Oh well, if you include them tomorrow (they did have 3 top 40 hits), I don't have to answer because I already have. LOL! Ok gotcha!
