Ray Parker/Raydio-Like the Raydio stuff better. Sort of just a blip on 80s radio. I don't think people remember how well Raydio's stuff did. I know I didn't! LOL! Faves-You Can't Change That (Raydio), A Woman Needs Love (Just Like You Do) (Ray Parker & Raydio), Jack And Jill (Raydio). John Parr-Two popular MTV hits. I like em both, although the St Elmos Theme was driven into the ground. Faves-Naughty, Naughty, St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion). Alan Parsons Project-I guess Dave can breath again now. I was so glad when they came out with the 2 disc collection, because the original GH was lacking some songs, plus it didn't have the Cirus intro to Eye in the Sky, which is the ONLY way I'll listen to that these days. Strictly a studio outfit, they had like 746 different lead singers through the years. Alan Clark of the Hollies was one of em. Good outfit. My faves are very high on my all time list. Faves-I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You, The Raven, Breakdown. Dolly Parton-A country legend STILL going strong. Putting out more bluegrass stuff recently. Very influential. Will probably be remembered right up near Patsy and Tammy. I like her stuff, unique voice. Whitney WHO? Faves-Here You Come Again, 9 to 5, Jolene. Partridge Family-Had a guy actually buy me their greatest hits as a gag gift and I eventually got rid of it. Kinda wish I hadn't. You can tell David Cassidy wanted to rock harder than he was allowed to. Of course I know their biggie, but I'm not familiar with their other 2 top tenners. I do, however, know I Woke Up..... Faves-I Think I Love You, I Woke Up in Love This Morning, Come On, Get Happy. And you?

Ray Parker / Raydio - "A blip on 80's radio" is a perfect way to describe them. I thought You Can't Change That was good. As a far as his solo material I liked The Other Woman -with that 80's funk groove and remember singing along with Ghostbusters in the summer of '84 - that video was sure played alot wasn't it - LOL I also remember the fiasco over Ghostbusters and I Want a New Drug . Faves - Raydio - You Can't Change That Ray Parker - The Other Woman , Ghostbusters John Parr - I remember hearing both hits and liking them as well . A buddy of mine loved Naughty Naughty. I have to agree that St.Elmos Theme was just a wee bit overplayed .A few years ago I picked up a promotional 45 featuring "Naughty" plus songs by The Cars' Elliot Easton , Los Lobos and Loudness. Faves - St. Elmos Fire and Naughty Naughty Alan Parsons Project - A buddy and I when we were in High School really got into "The Project" big time. I have five albums on CD , one on LP , a couple of 45's and one on cassette. His albums were recorded so well of course being for the most part done at Abbey Road Faves - I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You Don't Let It Show Sirius / Eye In The Sky Psychobabble Breakdown You Don't Believe Prime Time Time Damned If I Do Separate Lives Games People Play Sooner or Later Don't Answer Me Let Me Go Home You Can't Take It With You Dolly Parton - She'll be best remembered for her um.. music - yeah that's it Seriously though she is very talented and has written some great stuff I remember watching her TV show .Too bad old Whitney what's her name had to ruin I Will Always Love You (oh man!). What I've heard of her bluegrass material is very good Faves: 9 - 5 , Here You Come Again , I Will Always Love You and Jolene Partridge Family - Really liked the TV show back in the 70's and still watch the re-runs if I get the chance - Canada's video channel Much More Music has been showing them. You're right though David released a few albums after the series ended trying to shed 'the image" but had a tough time doing so. I remember seeing an interview and he mentioned talking with John Lennon sometime in the early 70's about trying to cope with the pressure of fame. Faves - I Think I love You , I Woke Up in Love This Morning and Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted.

Ray Parker/Raydio- He/They were OK, not my faves but listenable. My fave is the first one - Jack and Jill (especially liked that pseudosynthesized echo effect). Also like: You Can't Change That, A Woman Needs Love, and The Other Woman. -- But boy! did I ever get tired of Ghostbusters. John Parr- Really only remember St. Elmos. - EEh! Alan Parsons - Again, not a big fan. I did like Games People Play and Eye In The Sky, but really didn't follow their music. Dolly Parton- I do like some country, but I've never cared for Dolly's style or music. Maybe its that little mole she has on her lip. I can't look at it. Everytime I try, I find myself lowering my eyes. ;D ;D ;D ;D Anyway, I do like a couple of her less countrified songs: Here You Come Again is my fave, and I also like her duet with Kenny, Islands in the Stream (although maybe it's because of the Barry Gibb connection.) Partridge Family- Just like the Monkees were a fabricated Beatles, the Partridges were a fabricated Cowsills. Some of their music wasn't bad, but I could never understand Shirley Jones' role in the music. She had been an acclaimed singer/actress on stage and screen, and here she was singing backup-lead vocal. (That is, David Cassidy would sing lead vocal, and Jones would sing the same melody only softer.) Faves: I think I Love You, I Woke Up In Love This Morning, One Of Those Nights Yes Love, I'll Meet You Halfway.

Raydio-I've LOVED the Raydio hits ever since they first came out! I didn't like his solo stuff as much, but that 70's soul sound was dying out by the early-mid 80's. I never need to hear "Ghostbusters" again.
John Parr-When "Naughty Naughty" came out I remember seeing the video a lot. I thought he looked like Robert Plant. 6 months later "St. Elmo's Fire" came out and his name was everywhere. Then he totally dissappeared.. Whatever happened to him?
Alan Parsons Project-My fave today. I LOVE this group! They remind me a lot of Pink Floyd at times. No wonder, since Alan engineered "Dark Side Of The Moon". I only have the Best Of on CD. Should get more soon.. Could "Don't Answer Me" sound any more like Phil Spector?
Dolly Parton-She was HUGE in the early 80's (in more ways than one ;D...) I liked some of her songs, but never went out of my way to pick up a collection.
Partridge Family-I have the "Definitive Collection" on CD.. Let's see how long it is before something MORE definitive comes out... I like them, but nowhere near as much as the Monkees. My fave-I'll Meet You Halfway (How can THIS be classified as "Bubblegum"?)

Ray Parker Jr./Raydio - I love both his solo material and his work with Raydio, although like H2 and Pete, I did get a little tired of 'Ghostbusters'. Favorites: Jack and Jill (LOVE it!!), You Can't Change That, The Other Woman, A Woman Needs Love, Bad Boy, Jamie, Two Places at the Same Time. John Parr - I'm not sure if I've heard 'Naughty Naughty', but 'St. Elmo's Fire' is good. Alan Parsons Project - Great group! Their records were always so expertly mixed and produced. I have 5 of their LPs. Favorites: I Wouldn't Want to Be Like You, Damned If I Do, Games People Play, Time, Eye in the Sky, Prime Time. Dolly Parton - Definitely one of country music's most accomplished artists. Like Ken, I remember watching her TV show years ago. Her songs bring back a lot of memories for me. Favorites: Jolene, The Bargain Store, Love is Like a Butterfly, Here You Come Again, Baby I'm Burnin', Two Doors Down, Heartbreaker, You're the Only One, Sweet Summer Lovin', 9 to 5, Don't Call It Love, Real Love (with Kenny Rogers). Partridge Family - I love both the show and the group's music, and was thrilled to find some of their rarer original LPs like Crossword Puzzle and Notebook in a used record shop back in 1994. Great pop sound, and David Cassidy is always nice to look at and listen to! Favorites: Come On, Get Happy, I Woke Up in Love This Morning (this rocks!), I Think I Love You, I Can Hear Your Heartbeat, Umbrella Man, Rollercoaster, I'm Here, You're Here.

Dolly Parton - Dolly is one of those artists that enjoy mocking, but deep down inside I really love. I'm dying to go to Dollywood just for the simple fact that she could possibly be there. Country legend, great songwriter, good singer, huge knockers. LOL. Anyway, I love Dolly. Faves - 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You (even though I have to admit that I like Whitney's cover better), Islands in the Stream, Moses (duet w/ Bette Midler on Bette's TV show ;D), Silver and Gold, Romeo and pretty much everything on her Slow Dancing with the Moon album. Also, I've never heard any of her bluegrass stuff in recent years, but I imagine that it's wonderful.
Partridge Family - The show was cute. Hey, David Cassidy was cute. But I can do without them. I do love that theme song though. Faves - Come On Get Happy, I Think I Love You

Ray Parker Jr - I never knew he recorded under another name. He's got a great smooth voice, but I'm just not into his style. Favorite: Can't Change That
John Parr - Like his 2 big hits. I have the 45 to St. Elmo's Fire. Went to see it just to stare at/drool over Rob Lowe and Andrew McCarthy
Alan Parsons Project - I enjoy their music. I'm not a hardcore fan, but I have a GH cd. Probably not the best one, but it keeps me happy. Favorites: Don't Answer Me, Wouldn't Want To Be Like You, Games People Play, Time
Dolly Parton - one of the few country people I can stomach. I don't like all her stuff, but for the same reason that I respect Loretta Lynn, for struggling to the top and having "been there and done that", I respect Dolly. I too was a bit peeved at Whitney for wrecking that song. I also love Dolly's movies. She's a good actress. She was great in 9 to 5, and I respect that movie even more now that I work in an office. Favorites: 9 to 5, Islands In The Stream, Coat Of Many Colors (sad), I Will Always Love You, Here You Come Again
Partridge Family: Was never really keen on the show (too cutsie for me) but no matter where I am, if I hear that theme song, I have to stop and sing along. I seriously used to watch long enough to hear it, then turn it. Favorite: C'mon Get Happy

Looks like it's my turn! Well now... (Pops in CD of you know who... ) Ray Parker Jr./Raydio--an R & B act I loved listening to growing up. Nothing's wore out on me, especially GHOSTBUSTERS! ;D (All time top 200, the "Macarena" of its time?) Originally I called them only "Raydio", even on "A woman needs love". But man, did Ray/Raydio appear A LOT on Solid Gold! (Almost as much as the Go-Go's or Sheena Easton!) Known for pointing finger on "Just like you do" (Never forget those weird things!) and did he rock on "The other woman"! (A Solid Gold "Pick Hit", BTW). All those great childhood memories aside, he was my fave of these 5 until about 5 years ago. A shame hardly any of his original Arista albums have been issued on CD. Also a wonderfully talented musician, great guitarist on some Boz Scaggs tunes! And I think he played on Stevie Wonder's gargantuan "Songs in the Key of Life". Long enough here? You haven't seen anything yet! Faves: Ghostbusters (LOVED singing to the instrumental version a LOT in '84) Jack and Jill The other woman Girls are more fun (LOVED this in fall '85, extremely overlooked) You can't change that A woman needs love That old song (more pop than R & B IMO) Jamie Two places at the same time I still can't get over loving you Bad boy For those who like to groove Honey I'm rich Woman out of control It's our own affair Let me go It's your night The people next door More than one way to love a woman I dont think that man should sleep alone One sided love affair Invasion Is this a love thing Still in the groove Dueling bikes from Quicksilver Just havin' fun In the heat of the night Over you Can't keep from cryin' John Parr--Except for St. Elmo's Fire, he didn't do much for me. I actually like his 3 minor hits "Magical", "Love grammar" and especially "Blame it on the radio" more than "Naughty naughty". That song took too long to break...sick of it by the time it reached top 40! (I'll save the best for last... ) Dolly Parton--Nice singer, looks, sound, what have you. Even went to Dollywood back in 1990! Despite her mammoth country hit output, I tend to lean towards her pop crossovers. Faves-- 9 to 5 Islands in the stream (w/Kenny) Here you come again Two doors down Baby I'm burnin' (Dolly goes disco!) I will always love you (1974 and 1982 versions...(Lora !) But you know I love you Heartbreaker Save the last dance for me Jolene Love is like a butterfly Starting over again It's all wrong, but it's all right (Flip of Baby I'm burnin') Old flames can't hold a candle to you Joshua Partridge Family--Nice, wholesome AM radio friendly music. My sister had all their albums, except Crossword Puzzle (as well as David solo), eventually it really grew on me, enough so I have their Hits CD! Fun stuff! Faves: I think I love you (all-time top 100) C'mon get happy (LOVE that organ!) Doesn't somebody want to be wanted I woke up in love this morning It's one of those nights (Yes love) I'll meet you halfway Am I losing you Looking through the eyes of love Summer days Point me in the direction of Albuquerque Umbrella man Brown eyes Breaking up is hard to do Echo Valley 2-6809 She'd rather have the rain BONUS: David solo-- Cherish Could it be forever Rock me baby How can I be sure I just wanna make you happy Two time loser And a reasonably good 1990 album, with the top 40 hit "Lyin' to myself". AND NOW... (drum roll) Man, what a long story to tell all. I may have heard some of their tunes on FM rock radio in the late 70's, then an AM pop/rock station began playing their hits from '76 to '81, and they were all good! Then much play on FM top 40 and rock stations throughout the 80's, enjoying the music thoroughly, but I still didn't consider myself a huge fan yet. A college friend of mine (a girl) really enjoyed their music as well. Some years pass, I go to work, earn money, I buy CD's of my fave groups of the past, and lo and behold, there's this "Ultimate Collection" with 2 CD's. I buy it, and it quickly becomes one of my fave CD compilations ever. Well I just can't say enough, I love their progressive, studio rock/pop approach to their work (Especially great vocalists in Eric Woolfson and Lenny Zakatek) , and hope I don't break the 10,000 word barrier! Faves: All of them, but best of all-- Don't let it show (just a few months ago, my new all-time fave) Eye in the sky (with Sirius, of course!) I robot/I wouldn't want to be like you Time Games people play Let's talk about me Don't answer me Psychobabble Dr. Tarr & Prof. Fether Prime time Damned if I do Stereotomy Days are numbers Standing on higher ground Breakdown Voyager/What goes up/The eagle will rise again You don't believe Can't take it with you Mammagamma You're gonna get your fingers burned (my fave not on the 2 CD set) Lucifer Turn of a friendly card (Part 1)/Snake eyes The raven Pyramania Ace of swords Old and wise Jigue/Re-jigue Too late Ammonia avenue In the real world Day after day (The show must go on) Gemini Nucleus Step by step Turn it up Vulture culture You won't be there Voice Sooner or later I don't wanna go home Tell-tale heart The silence and I In the lap of the gods Total eclipse Children of the moon Separate lives Enough? ;D

Yay! It's back! I've missed this feature for the last 3 days. Ray Parker Jr/Raydio--I really enjoy listening to a lot of his/their songs--more than I even realized, I guess. Is there some sort of a greatest hits collection out there somewhere, do you know? Faves: A Woman Needs Love, Jack and Jill, I Still Can't Get Over Lovin' You (LOVE IT), You Can't Change That, The Other Woman, Two Places at the Same Time John Parr--He opened up for Tina Turner when I saw her live back in the 80's. He actually wasn't too bad--I was impressed by his performance. Then he pretty much disappeared. Really like Naughty Naughty. And the song St. Elmo's Fire was MUCH better than the movie. LOL! Alan Parsons Project--I don't know anything about this group, but I do like a lot of the songs. Faves--Damned if I Do, Wouldn't Want to Be Like You, Don't Let it Show, Eye in the Sky, plenty more... Dolly Parton--An all time favorite of mine. My husband got me the 2 CD set "The Ultimate Dolly Parton" for my birthday, and I must say, I like it a lot. I've been listening to it, and I had forgotten about some of the songs she's had. That CD set brought back a lot of memories for me. Faves: Coat of Many Colors, Jolene, I Will Always Love You, Love is Like a Butterfly, Light of a Clear Blue Morning, Here You Come Again, Two Doors Down, We Used To, The Seeker, Romeo, Rockin' Years, Baby I'm Burnin', Shine, many more...BTW--she was a guest on Larry King Live last week, and she said she couldn't read music. When she writes a song, she has to play it for someone else so that they can write down the musical notes to the song. I just thought it was interesting that someone as prolific as she is, can't read music. Partridge Family--Lotsa fond memories of the TV show, and of David Cassidy especially. Used to sit in my room, play the albums, and gaze at David's face on the album covers for hours. LOL! Faves: Brown Eyes, Echo Valley 36809, I Think I Love You, Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Wanted, Looking Through the Eyes of Love, I Can Feel Your Heartbeat, I'll Meet You Halfway, I Woke Up in Love, Come On Get Happy, One of Those Nights, She'd Rather Have the Rain, lots more.
