Peaches & Herb - I like Shake Your Groove Thing but that's about it. It's funny how replaceable the Peaches seem to be. Pearl Jam - Their first album will always be their best for me. It's the only stuff of theirs that I still listen to. Eddie Vedder has a way of injecting the right amount of emotion as he sings. They are also amazing to see play live. Faves: Black, Even Flow, Alive, Release, Deep, Elderly Woman Behind A Counter... Carl Perkins - Influential for sure! And boy did he have some wacky hair on him in his later years. Faves: Everybody's trying To Be My Baby, Put Your Cat Clothes On, Blue Suede Shoes Steve Perry - sigh....  Well he has one of the most distinctive and pure voices in rock/pop. But I never liked his solo stuff really. Faves: Foolish Heart, Don't Fight It Peter & Gordon - I've always loved "World Without Love" but they seem pretty interchangeable with other bands from the era. Hey Sat - you above all others should know that this is a family oriented board, so watch your language.!! The proper word is TA-TAs. ;D Peaches and Herb - Actually liked the first Peaches (Francine Barker) who recorded with Herb Fame in the late 60s at least as much as the second Peaches (Linda Green) from '77-80. Somevery good R&B here. Faves: Peaches #1: Close Your Eyes, Two Little Kids, For Your Love. Peaches #2: Reunited, Shake Your Groove Thing, I Pledge My Love. Nectarine #5: - Oh never mind. Bad Joke. Pearl Jam - Don't really know their music - W-A-Y too young for me. I have heard their coverof Last Kiss, however, and I kinda like it. Maybe I'll have to investigate them more. Carl Perkins - Mr. Blue Suede Shoes. Part of the Sun Record Club of the mid-50s along with Elvis, Roy, Johnny C., and Jerry Lee. Perkins is probably ranked 5th out of the 5, but that would be #1 on most other lists. As you said, he was the rockabilly guy. Faves: Blue Suede Shoes, Boppin The Blues, Honey Don't, Everybodys trying to Be My Baby. Also love the 30th reunion album "Class of '55" that Carl did with Roy, Johnny and Jerry Lee. Steve Perry - Liked his Journey stuff better than his solo stuff. Oh Sherrie is pretty decent though. Peter and Gordon - Yeah, Peter being Jane Asher's brother didn't hurt their careers one bit. They made very good 2-part harmony, and more or less took the duet crown away from the Everlys for awhile. I really liked their music. Faves: World Without Love, Nobody I Know, I Don't Want To See You Again, True Love Ways, Woman, Lady Godiva, Knight in Rusty Armour, Sunday for Tea. I should have worked Winnebagos in there somewhere!  It may have been a bad joke, but I laughed at it!! ;D |

Peaches and Herb - "Liked Shake Your Groove Thang" of course. I also like their earlier song "Close Your Eyes". Pearl Jam - Can't stand them. I never got into the grunge thing. I actually went to one of their concerts on a date and I was sooo bored. There just isn't any soul to their music. I'm sorry, I just can't get into them. I just don't get it. Carl Perkins - Fave - "Blue Suede Shoes". Steve Perry - Loved him with Journey. I didn't like his solo stuff that much. Peter & Gordon - I guess all I really know is " World Without Love". "Liked Shake Your Groove Thang" of course. -You really are the Disco Queen, aren't you? |

Peaches & Herb-I like their early singles on the Date label from the 60s. I remember Reunited being a REALLY big hit in the spring of '79. We (my second grade class) were singing it on the bus on a field trip to the New England Aquarium (amazing, the little things I remember). Pearl Jam-Irritating, Eddie Vedder's voice is like nails on a blackboard. And SO many singers (like Scott Stapp of Creed) try to sound like HIM!! At the time, I thought Ten was OK, though I never owned it. Jeremy was probably the best, that and Evenflow. But WHAT were they thinking when they did Last Kiss? Carl Perkins-Legendary aritst, should have been a big star, and probably would've had he not been in that car accident. However, I'm really not into 50s Rock 'N Roll, so I don't know much of his music. I do like the song he did with McCartney, "Get It", on the "Tug Of War" album. Steve Perry-I liked "Oh Sherrie" and "Foolish Heart", better than "Open Arms" or "Faithfully". Peter & Gordon-I have the Rhino collection, lots of good cuts on there. I like MOST songs more than Faithfully! I didn't realize P&G had a Rhino collection! I'll have to search that out! |

Peaches and Herb - I know Reunited, and that's it. Pearl Jam - My best friend is in love with Eddie Vedder. LOL. But I'm not a huge fan of theirs. I do think that Scott Stapp from Creed sounds a little too much like Vedder though... Steve Perry - I really like that Oh Sherrie song, but that's the only one I know! TOO many singers tried to sound like Vedder, I even think Hootie did! |

Peaches & Herb - I know only their three biggest hits. 'Shake Your Groove Thing' and 'Reunited' have been favorites of mine since 1979. 'I Pledge My Love' took a little while to grow on me, but it's good as well. Pearl Jam - I wasn't familiar with this group at all until fairly recently, when I started hearing some of their songs on the classic rock stations. Remember that song I had asked you about a couple of months ago, where I thought the lead singer sounded similar to Scott Stapp? It turns out that song was 'Jeremy'! I love that one! Carl Perkins - One of rock's pioneers. I really haven't heard too much of his work, but I'd like to investigate it more closely someday. Favorite: Blue Suede Shoes. Steve Perry - I have his album Street Talk on cassette, but have never listened to it beyond the hits. I really like what I've heard so far, though, and I loved his work with Journey. Favorites: She's Mine (very underplayed nowadays), Oh Sherrie, Foolish Heart, Don't Fight It. Peter and Gordon - It seems like I read somewhere that Paul's split with Jane did cause problems with his relationship with Peter, particularly when it came to his producing James Taylor while James was with Apple. Great harmonies! Favorites: A World Without Love, Knight in Rusty Armour, I Go to Pieces, Lady Godiva. They played Jeremy on the classic rock station, or just a hard rock station? Did they leave in the bad word or beep it out? |

One more thing I forgot to mention about Pearl Jam: In the late 80's-early 90's I was a BIG fan of (what was then called) Alternative Music (The Smiths, Morrissey, Echo & The Bunnymen, Big Audio Dynamite, Public Image ltd., etc...). When Seattle happened all these American rock bands became "Alternative Music", so I could no longer say I was a fan of Alternative Music, because the media "stole" the term. I agree with you 100%. The "alternative" station here plays the Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Metallica (METALLICA??). And U2!! Ummmm, the biggest, most successful, most well known band of the past 20 years is ALTERNATIVE??? They need to come up with a new genre title. The acts you listed, and others like Bauhaus and Throwing Muses are REAL alternative. |

Onward! Peaches & Herb--My fave today; Great memories from the disco era! Although I am familiar with their early stuff (WAY before disco), I've heard surprisingly little from this era. Have a CD compilation of their 2nd career (Linda Green is adorable!). Faves: Reunited (All time top 200; the best soul ballad ever recorded; my #2 of '79 after "Le Freak") Shake your groove thing (Ah...indistinct AM radio--I thought for YEARS they were singing "We're funkin' Buddhists" LOL!) I pledge my love (Great wedding tune) Close your eyes (Love the way Francene Barker sings "I love you", better than the Five Keys' doo wop original) Love is strange (Good remake) We got love (Ahhh...1979. Of course, it shoulda hit top 40) Roller skatin' mate (70's Child?  ) I like a few others... Pearl Jam--Didn't do a whole lot for me. With Nirvana, they took a lot of the "fun cheese" out of early 90's music. With some exceptions, music's gone downhill ever since 1992. Faves: Last kiss Spin the black circle Alive Even flow I got id Jeremy (Hate Daughter and Better man!) Carl Perkins--Nice early rock 'n roll. A true legend indeed-RIP. Faves: Blue suede shoes Matchbox Honey don't Get it (On Sir Paul's Tug of War LP, cool cheesy laughing at end) Everybody's tryin' to be my baby Steve Perry--As a solo artist, hit or miss with me. For 2 months, "Don't fight it" was drilled to the GROUND, and after 20 years, I still have no desire to hear it again--yet. Sort of the same with "Foolish heart", yet it's still played too much today! I've heard a few album cuts, and they don't do anything for me. Faves: Oh Sherrie (Have always loved it!) Strung out (Rock it good!) You better wait She's mine Missing you Peter & Gordon--I have the vast majority of their hits on Rhino's discontinued "British Invasion" CD series, and there's quite a good, whimsical quality to many of their tunes. Never tire of them, and could use more radio airplay today. Faves: A world without love I go to pieces I don't want to see you again Nobody I know Lady Godiva Woman True love ways Knight in rusty armour To know you is to love you Time to go "Free fallin'" tomorrow! Isn't the actual title I Got THE Id? I really don't remember hearing Don't Fight it that much back then. |

It was a titilating post, Sat. Peaches and Herb - there actually are 3 Peaches. The original, the cornrow one, and Herb is trying to resurect the act again with another Peaches. Can't stand Reunited. Favorite: Shake Your Groove Thing Pearl Jam - I was taught that if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. Carl Perkins - only really familiar with Blue Suede Shoes Steve Perry - better with Journey. Favorite: Don't Fight It Peter and Gordon - enjoyable British Invasion stuff. Peaches & Herb--Only know their hits, and I really like those. Reunited is a good love song. Pearl Jam--Eddie Vedder sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch of a Chicago Cubs baseball game a couple of weeks ago. The game announcers talked to him afterward, and Eddie seems like a real nice guy. Very personable. I never really paid much attention to him, and only knew a few Pearl Jam songs. But I was impressed with Eddie when he was being interviewed that day. Anyway...Faves: Jeremy, Better Man, Daughter (can kinda relate to the lyrics), Alive, Black, Even Flow Carl Perkins--Was never too familiar with anything but Blue Suede Shoes. But the man's definitely a legend. Steve Perry--Love his voice. Loved him with Journey, and I love his solo work. Used to listen to his first solo album ALL the time. Peter and Gordon--I guess the only thing I know by them is World Without Love. Good song. Someday I should listen to more by them. I thought for SURE you'd have some good Dolly jokes! |

What's with the *sigh* for Steve Perry? Did you see the VH-1 Behind The Music about Journey? Perry just made me sad - he's very strange. The *sigh* was also for the fact that as much as I like him with Journey, his solo career was really irksome.  |

Peaches & Herb - Not real familiar with their 60s stuff and only really liked Shake Your Grove Thing & Reunited from the 70s.
Pearl Jam - I've heard their stuff and still not really sure if I like them. Probably will have to listen more carefully instead of changing the station when they come on.
Carl Perkins - A legend and great early rock influence. An original from Sun records. Love the old rockabilly style. Favorites: Blue Suede Shoes & Your True Love
Steve Perry - Another artist who probably have not tried a solo career. Oh Sherrie is the song I like.
Peter & Gordon - A forgotten duo from the 60s. Did some pretty good songs. Favorites: Woman, World Without Love, & I Don't Want To See You Again.
