Pretenders - Great great music. I used to listen to them a lot more when I was 15 then I do now ( I was much cooler back then). Oh well...Chrissy Hynde rules! My faves: Don't Get Me Wrong, Brass In Pocket, Middle of The Road, Chain Gang, Breakfast In Bed Prince - I love his stuff up until the early 90s. It's just so fun and funky. He's super talented if a little strange. Faves: Pop Life, Rasberry Beret, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, U Got The Look, I Wanna Be Your Lover, I Would Die 4 U, Gett Off, Baby I'm A Star, 1999 Procol Harum - I only like "Whiter Shade of Pale". And actually I like Annie Lennox's cover of it better. Psychedelic Furs - My fave on the list today. They were one of the most important bands to me in my formative years. Their music means a lot to me. Faves: Ghost in You, Love My Way, President Gas, Heaven, Pretty in Pink Gary Pcukett & The Union Gap - my mom went to highschool with Gary Puckett so she felt obligated to be a fan of the band. "Young Girl" is a famioly favorite. Faves: Young Girl, Woman Woman Weren't we ALL cooler back then? Annie's is better? OH NO!!!! Scan Gary's high school pic for us!!

Let's see--when I saw him, it was about 1996, and the other acts on the bill were Mark Lindsay, the Turtles, and Tommy James. It was a fun show. Oh I misread, I thought you said 86! Wow, that would be an awesome show!!

Pretenders : I really liked Brass in Pocket and one more, I just can't think of the name. Prince : The very first song I remember from Prince was "I Wanna be Your Lover". I was in 7th grade and it was very popular at the time. It's still one of my favorites. Back in High School there was no escaping Prince. The "1999" albumn had some of his best songs. My favorites of his are: I Wanna be Your Lover Soft and Wet Lady Cab Driver Free Nothing Compares 2 U Procol Harem : I only know "Whiter Shade of Pale" and it would be my favorite. Psychedelic Furs : I don't like anything from them. I didn't get into the soft rock 80's punk or whatever that music is called. Gary Puckett & the Union Gap : I don't like anything from them. That's right, Prince wrote and did Nothing Compares 2 U first!

(Hmm...your post is at least 2 days old; I wonder if you'll even see this) *Procul Harem*: After all these years, the only song of theirs that I am familiar with IS “Whiter Shade” . I like it now, but when I was little it used to give me THE CREEPS!!! My brother would leave his radio on at night and sometimes very late at night I would hear the organ in that song and hold my hands tightly over my ears until it was OVER! *shudders just thinking about it* Good Ol’ *Gary Puckett and the Union Gap*: HOMETOWN BOYS!!! For years and YEARS Gary could be found singing at a club in/near(? Never could quite figure that out. LOL!) Sea World (The San Diego/original one, of course) He performed there as a solo artist and not with the U.G. One time when he did perform with T.U.G. was on The Ed Sullivan Show, and I recently downloaded this performance from Kaaza. One of the guitar players and a friend of mine both graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, Ca in the mid 60s, and he was her escort at one of their graduation(Related) ceremonies. Anyway, I am planning to send a copy of the clip (And hoping it will work!) to her to ask her which one of the guitar players it was! Cool story about your friend and the guitar player!

Pretenders - Got their first album, which is a great album. But I really didn't follow them much after that. Favorites: Brass in Pocket, Kid, Space Invader
Prince - It took me awhile to warm to Prince's music, but once I did, it really wasn't all that bad. Went off him again when he couldn't figure out what his name would be, but the music was always good. Favorites: When Doves Cry, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain
Procol Harum - Strange group to figure out. Huge hit with Whiter Shade of Pale, then just a couple of minor hits. More of an album band than chart band. Pretty good though. Robin Trower went on to a pretty good solo career. Favorites: Whiter Shade of Pale, Conquistador, Salty Dog, Homburg.
Psychedelic Furs - ?
Gary Puckett & the Union Gap - Pretty good lite rock group. I liked most of what they did. Got the Greatest Hits on vinyl. Not bad. Favorites: Youn Girl, Lady Willpower, This Girl Is a Woman Now.
