Several more suggestions today.
Starbuck-Dave suggested this one. I only know one tune, but that's ok, cuz I LOVE it! Moonlight Feels Right is an all time fave of mine! One of the 70's VERY best! Funny, most people I mention it to don't recognize it. Only know the one tune. Fave-Moonlight Feels Right.
Edwin Starr-Dave suggested this, but I was all ready to list it. War is way overplayed, but I do like Twenty-Five Miles. The timeless rock station should play it, but they don't. Faves-Twenty-Five Miles, War.
Ringo Starr-The last Beatle on the list. People make fun of Richie, but you must remember, he had two number 1's, and a total of 7 top tens in a row! His music is sort of dated and doesn't get much play, but I am glad I have the greatest hits. Faves-Snookeroo, Photograph, It Don't Come Easy.
Status Quo-Request from Ken. After talking with Ken, they DO fit my criteria anyway, since I actually do know 2 songs by them! Pictures of Matchstick Men is a psychedelic classic. The other song (which I don't remember how it goes) is Caroline. First heard it on a Rhino collection called Roots of Metal (cool disc, BTW). Wouldn't mind hearing more. HUGE in England. Fave-Pictures of Matchstick Men.
Steely Dan-Hall of Famers. As a kid, I thought of them as annoying mellow groovy parents music. MAN, did I turn around! I know list them among my faves. Thing is, I don't know anyone personally in my age range that likes them! (Makes me appreciate the Click where they have so many fans!) Have such a unique sound. And their records sound so similar, without being redundant. Have the box set, it's a necessity. Faves-Peg, Green Earrings, Black Cow, Don't Take Me Alive, Hey 19. (just a sampling)

Starbuck - Don't believe I know of them.
Edwin Starr - I think the only one I know is War. Really like it though. It was the theme song to one of my favorite shows a couple years back. Fave - War.
Ringo Starr - The least attractive Beatle, in my opinion. Never heard any of his solo stuff though.
Status Quo - Cool name! But I've never heard of them.
Steely Dan - I know how huge they are, but I have never listened to them. The thought never crossed my mind. Don't know why.

Starbuck- I'm only familiar with Moonlight Feels Right which I must have heard 8000 times each day in 1976. I was living in Atlanta then, and that's where Starbuck is from. Good song -- now that I'm no longer hearing it 8000 times a day.
Edwin Starr-I also only remember War and 25 Miles. War has become a major anti-war anthem. I agree with Sat that 25 miles is the better song.
Ringo Starr- The oft-criticized Beatle. May not have been the top all-time drummer, but he was no slouch. Had a d@mn good solo career also. Two BIG faves: Photograph, It Don't Come Easy. Also like: Oh My My, Back Off Boogaloo, and Snookeroo. Didn't care for his covers of Only You and You're Sixteen at all, however.
Status Quo- Only know Pictures of Matchstick Men. Not bad; interesting sound.
Steely Dan- I think most people like Steely Dan a whole lot more than I do. I like a couple of their songs: Rikki Don't Lose That Number is my fave, and Reelin In The Years, and Hey Nineteen are pretty good. But, IMO, that's about it.

Starbuck - LOVE!!!! Moonlight Feels Right Woo Hoo - a great record. Have it on a Ktel compilation that was played so many times and on CD .I also have Everybody Be Dancin' - Ialways forget that one. Dawn recommended their first two albums so when I get the chance I'm going to see if I can find both. Faves - Moonlight Feels Right and Everybody Be Dancin' Edwin Starr - Only know a couple from him - RIP - War of course and Agent Double O'Soul - a superb track. Faves: Agent Double O 'Soul and War. Ringo Starr - I've always loved his drumming. He always knew just what each song required. I stole oops I mean " borrowed" LOL every drum fill he ever played! I have both the Ringo album(vinyl and CD) and Blast From Your Past (vinyl and cassette) . I bought "Blast" on tape in the early 80's and almost wore it out. I also have It Don't Come Easy and Goodnight Vienna on 45. Faves - It Don't Come Easy , Back off Boogaloo , Early 1970 (superb slide from George) , Oh My My ,Only You , You're Sixteen , The No No Song , It's all Down to Goodnight Vienna , Snookeroo , I'm The Greatest , Never Without You (a song for George - the lyrics really tug at the old heart) and Weight of The World Status Quo - Thank you Adam  I have three of their albums on vinyl and "Pictures" on 45(bought it during Grade 12) and CD . Went from Psychedelia to a boogie band. Great simple rock and roll. I thought they were great at Live Aid. Faves - Whatever You Want , Don't Waste My Time , Rockin' All Over The World (the first tune played at Live Aid) , Dirty Water( not The Standells tune) , Down The Dustpipe ,Caroline , Pictures of Matchstick Men , Ice in The Sun and their cover of Roadhouse Blues. Steely Dan - I've mentioned before that my oldest brother had(has) all the albums . He played them many times:) I have always enjoyed their music and their albums were always recorded so well . A great blend of rock and jazz. Good line-up today! Starbuck - Awesome childhood memories. I recently got the "Moonlight Feels Right" album on cd. This digitally remasterd disc features some songs off their 1978 follow up album " Rock & Roll Rocket". I would totally reccommend this cd. Bruce Blackman has/had the coolest voice. I love how quirly and kind of funky they were. They used the vibes for crissakes!  Faves: Moonlight..., I Got To Know, Working My Heart to The Bone, Everybody Be Dancin', Call Me Edwin Starr - "War" is totally overplayed, but I can't deny that it's a good song. My dad's a fan so I'm actually familiar with some of his other stuff too. Faves: Agent Double-O-Soul, Stop Her On Sight (SOS), Contact, War Ringo Starr - HIs solo stuff has never really impressed me. I didn't know that about his #1s and top ten hits. Anyway I like "It Don't Come Easy". Status Quo - I have a co-worker that loves this band and he's always playing their stuff in his office. I don't think I like their sound, but it could just be because I associate them with my co-worker who I think is annoying!  Maybe I should give them a chance? Steely Dan -  My fave today NO QUESTION. No other group has a deeper connection to my childhood than this one. My parents were super-fans of this band (they still are) and went to see them play live as often as they could. I spent many a late evening as a 6, 7, and 8 year old wearing little ear plugs at Steely Dan concerts with my family. Some may view that as strange parenting but I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything. Anyway, I'm basically a fan of the music that this band put out from 1975 - 1980. Their newer stuff I haven't gotten into. Well I'm back after the worst illness of my adulthood. Last week is completely erased from my memory. This is what happens when you work yourself far beyond what your body can handle. Gotta learn to pace myself. Scary stuff...it's good to be able to contribute again. Starbuck  : Another band whose material I need to take a deeper look into. "Moonlight Feels Right" has many fans here, including myself. It's one of the best of the seventies. Has some of my favorite lyrics and you've got to love the xylophone solo just for it's uniqueness. Favorites = Moonlight Feels Right Edwin Starr  : Powerful, authoritative voice. He could really belt 'em out. R.I.P. Favorites = War, Contact Ringo Starr  : Okay, no argument from me..he was the least gifted of the Fab Four but still a highly competent drummer. Ringo's solo material demonstrates that he doesn't take himself too seriously. Most of it is good clean fun, tongue-in-cheek style. Had a pretty good run on the charts in 73 and 74 before finally bowing out for good in 81. Funny guy, doesn't follow the crowd...I can dig it. Favorites = You're Sixteen, Back off Bugaloo, Oh My My, The No No Song, Photograph, Wrack My Brain Status Quo  : I have no clue.... Steely Dan  : Songwriting geniuses. Their lyrics can be so deep and intricate yet easy to interpret and fun to sing along to. I'm not real fond of Donald Fa gen's voice however. Definitely Hall-worthy. I would pick "Aja" as their finest LP though nearly all (especially "Pretzel Logic") are worthy of consideration. A group that I will appreciate and listen to for as long as I still have my hearing. Favorites include: Do It Again Peg Hey Nineteen Deacon Blue Time Out of Mind Josie Ricki Don't Lose That Number |

Not much to say today, except for Ringo & "The Dan"
Starbuck-Have both their hits on Rhino series. Good tunes. Leader Bruce Blackman had previously hit the Hot 100 in '68 with the group Eternity's Children. Their hit "Mrs. Bluebird" is kind of a Cowsills soundalike. Worth hearing, if you can track down a 45.
Edwin Starr-Kind of sick of "War". LOVE "Twenty Five Miles" and "Agent Double O Soul"
Ringo Starr-His solo material may not be John's or Paul's, or even George's, But it's not to be overlooked! I know very little of his post-Apple material, with the exception of "Wrack My Brain" (good tune), and "Way of The World", which was a big VH1 hit about 10 years ago. I own "Blast From Your Past" on CD, and the "Ringo" album on vinyl.
Steely Dan-Awesome group! Loved them ever since I was a kid! Could go on forever with my list of faves...

Starbuck - Excellent group! They had such a great sound, right in step with the times. Both of their albums are wonderful, especially their first. 'Moonlight Feels Right' is a song I absolutely love - #3 on my list of all-time favorites. Other favorites: I Got to Know, Drop a Little Rock, Everybody Be Dancin'.
Edwin Starr - Another talent we lost too soon. He had a very good voice, very dynamic and powerful. Favorites: War, Twenty-Five Miles, Agent Double-O Soul, Contact, H-A-P-P-Y Radio.
Ringo Starr - While his vocal talent isn't at the same level as the other three Beatles, given the right material, he did an excellent job. Very gifted drummer, one of the best in rock. Favorites: Oh My My, It Don't Come Easy, Photograph, Back Off Boogaloo, Snookeroo, Only You.
Status Quo - I only know 'Pictures of Matchstick Men', but what a great song that is! I wish the oldies stations here played it more often. I should investigate more.
Steely Dan - Definitely one of my favorite groups. I've always loved their blend of jazz and rock. Like you, I don't know too many people close to my age outside of the Click who are fans of theirs, but it's really nice to see so many fans here. Favorites: Rikki Don't Lose That Number, Time Out of Mind, Pretzel Logic, Hey Nineteen, Do It Again, Reeling in the Years, Aja, Josie, Black Cow, Doctor Wu, Peg, Deacon Blues, Black Friday, The Fez, Glamour Profession.

I never cared for the smarmy people who always have to correct you, but as an accomplished percussionist...................  I must digress - they're playing the marimba. I tried many many times to duplicate that wicked-cool solo, but never could. Starbuck - Rocks! Edwin Starr - War is ok. Makes me think of Seinfeld. Ringo Starr - I think he's talented. He's my mom's favorite Beatle. I enjoy his music. Favorites: Photograph, It Don't Come Easy, The No No Song Status Quo - my old boss (who was in the navy and stationed in England) loaned me a Status Quo boxed album set. I was too scared to play it. I do love Pictures Of Matchstick Men. Steeley Dan - I didn't appreciate them until I became an adult. Favorites: Deacon Blue, Peg, Hey 19, Kid Charlemagne, IDY (I think that's it - I can't find my cd's...), Reelin' In The Years, etc...... |

Starbuck--I have 3 45's by them, and I love 'em all. Used to play the sh!t out of them when I was younger. I always thought the lead singer (apparantly his name is Bruce Blackman--I never knew that. Thanks, Click!) was SO cool! Faves: Moonlight Feels Right, Everybody Be Dancin', I Got to Know.
Edwin Starr--I'm familiar with War. Good song. The title Agent Double O Soul sounds familiar, but I can't place the tune.
Ringo Starr--He always looked to me like he was having fun--both with the Beatles, and on his own. Seems like a nice guy. I like a lot of his solo stuff. Faves: Back off Boogaloo (wasn't there some sort of weird video to this? I vaguely remember some crazy looking creature running around--musta been the "Boogaloo". Anyway--after I saw that, the song kinda scared me. LOL!), Photograph, It Don't Come Easy, You're Sixteen, The No No Song, Oh My My, a few more.
Status Quo--I just saw a trailer last night for a new Nicolas Cage movie called "Matchstick Men". Immediately made me think of Status Quo, and wondered if you were gonna list them. Unfortunately, the only song I know by them IS "Pictures of Matchstick Men". Absolutely love it. Stole my brother's 45 when I was a kid. LOL!
Steely Dan--I really have to be in the mood to listen to these guys. There are a few songs I enjoy, but for the most part...no.

Starbuck - Their coffee is better than the music.
Edwin Starr - Twenty-Five Miles from home was a great song, but it doesn't seem to get the airplay. War is as overplay today as it was in 1970.
Ringo Starr - I liked Ringo's music. Wasn't as political as John's, as rockin' as Paul's, or as soft as George's, but it was his style and he went with it. Favorites: Photograph, No No Song, It Don't Come Easy, & You're Sixteen.
Status Quo - A very good, if underrated British rock band. Did very little over here, but were huge in England. Got two albums on vinyl, Rocking all Over the World & 12 Gold Bars (greatest hits collection), both good albums. Favorites: Rocking All Over the World, Down Down, Caroline, Break the Rules, Wild Side of Life, Living on An Island, Pictures of Matchstick Men.
Steely Dan - They get knocked as being "annoying mellow groovy parent music," but they did get a Grammy a couple of years ago. My son was one of the few, the proud, the brave at his high school that had actually heard any of their music. Steely Dan is did it their way, and their way was great. They come at #35 of my top 60 groups of all time. Deserving of their Hall Of Fame induction. Favorites: Rikki Don't Lose That Number, Peg, Black Friday, FM, Deacon Blue, Do it Again, & Josie.
