Sugarloaf--Know the two biggies, and I like them a lot. Sugar Ray--One of my favorite "newer" bands. I like every song I've heard, and they have some pretty funny videos, too. Mark McGrath is awful darn cute!  Saw him on Celebrity Jeopardy awhile back and he answered practically every question! Left his competitors in the dust. Ended up with like, 100 million points! LOL! That made me like him even more! ;D Donna Summer--One of my favorite female artists. Great party music! Lots of memories of high school days listening to her music. Caught her in concert on VH-1 a couple of years ago, and she's still got the pipes. I bought the CD of that concert, but that's all I have of her on CD. I'd like to get a hits collection on disc sometime. Henry Lee Summer--Whatever happened to him? I thought he had the potential to become really, really popular. Shows what I know. ;D He's from Indiana, and he used to give concerts around this area all the time. I never did see him in concert, but some friends of mine used to go whenever he was in town. They were big fans of his. Maybe they know what he's doing these days. Just seems to have fallen off the radar screen. Oh well... Supertramp--Used to spend hours up in my room listening to the Breakfast in America LP. Great childhood/young adult memories there. Also had Crime of the Century and Even in the Quietest Moments. Liked 'em all. Very good group. I was always impressed by them. |

Sugarloaf - I have the 45 for Green Eyed Lady. It's the only one I know. It's not bad. Sugar Ray - I like them, but I don't think I'll be running out and buying any cd's any time soon. I remember them from the earlier days of Headbanger's Ball. They had a different sound then. Favorites: Every Morning, I Just Wanna Fly, When It's Over, Someday (very favorite). Donna Summer - Love Donna. Have her Anthology. Favorites: Heaven Knows (W/ Brooklyn Bridge - her husband was lead singer), Love To Love You, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, She Works Hard For The Money, This Time I Know It's For Real, I Feel Love (very favorite). Henry Lee Summer -  Supertramp - That A&M Collection did stink! I ditched it for the newest one, "The Very Best Of Supertramp" but it still doesn't have the song you mentioned. Sugarloaf - Don't Call Us, We'll Call You was a catchy tune, kind of different from some of the other stuff on the radio in 1975. Got the 45. Green Eyed Lady is a classic and my favorite from them. Have it on a couple of compilations.
Sugar Ray - ?
Donna Summer - Donna was all over the airwaves in the late 70s. As I got tired of disco, I got tired of Donna. Nowadays, I'll listen to the disco (in very small doses), and I get my Donna fix. Would have to think at some point she will get some Rockhall consideration, but not before some other very deserving groups get in. Favorites: Last Dance, Heaven Knows, On the Radio.
Henry Lee Summers - ?
Supertramp - Another great rock group carrying the torch through the dark days of disco. I have Breakfast in America on vinyl on several others on cassette. One of the better British bands of their era. Favorites: Bloody Well Right, Give A Little Bit, Logical Song, Breakfast in America, Take the the Long Way Home, Dreamer.

Sugarloaf - I know I've heard something...I have to have heard at least one song, but I'm not remembering. Sugar Ray - Sugar Ray is, like, the ultimate pop-rock band of today. They're amazing. I love them. And it doesn't hurt that lead singer Mark McGrath is a total babe. Faves - Fly, When It's Over, Every Morning, Someday, Words To Me. Donna Summer - No doubt about that Queen of Disco thing. She has such an amazing voice. I love her. Hmm...this sounds a lot like my comments on Sugar Ray, doesn't it? But I really do love her. I think she's incredible, and SO pretty too. Faves - Last Dance, No More Tears (Enough is Enough) (w/ Barbra Streisand), She Works Hard For the Money, Bad Girls, On the Radio, Hot Stuff, MacArthur Park, I Will Go With You. I Feel Love and Love to Love Ya Baby are okay. I get tired of all the incessant moaning though. *yawn* Henry Lee Summer - Don't know him. Supertramp - Couldn't tell you any titles, but I'm sure if I heard a song I'd recognize it. How did I figure you'd like the duet with Babs?? |

Glad you decided to do the Insane List, Sat. I was dating a "green-eyed lady" back then, who thought it was her song. After I broke up with that self-centered.---- oh never mind. Anyway, I like Don't Call Us a whole lot better. Sugar Ray- Heard of him/them, but don't know his/their music. Donna Summer- I don't like disco. I don't like Donna Summer much at all. I can tolerate: Hot Stuff, and Last Dance. That's about it. Henry Lee Summer- Never heard of him Supertramp- Pretty good group. I really like The Logical Song. I probably had heard it 100 times before I realized that THAT was The Logical Song. Other faves: Take The Long Way Home, It's Raining Again Thanks H2! Yes, Hey Jude at number 1, Stairway to Heaven at 2.....  Come on, don't mince words.....self centered what? |

Moderators, you need to delete some older posts...this site is getting slower very day and it's barely useable now! This is surely bandwidth-related. I can't even get icons now. Sugarloaf: Good seventies rock. Jerry Corbetta doesn't receive enough credit these days. Some excellent guitar work on their recordings. Interesting Beatles reference on "Don't Call Us..." Favorites = Don't Call Us, Well Call You; Green Eyed Lady Sugar Ray: Califronia skater rock with a Carribean flavor. Nice combo. Lead singer Mark McGrath is way too arrogant and his voice is only so-so, it's the musicianship that makes this band one of the better to appear on the scene in the last ten years. Favorites = Fly, Someday, Every Morning, When It's Over, Hey Mr. Bartender (It's Not Easy) Donna Summer: OH YEAH. She started out singing in the musical 'Hair' before breaking out to become the disco queen. Phenomenally successful in the late 70's. Slightly irritating tendency to start songs slowly and then suddenly kick into boogie mode. Though she didn't thrive, she was one of the very, very few acts to survive the death of disco. Had sporadic hits in the 80's. Obviously, I enjoy her music tremendously. Favorites include: Love to Love You Baby I Feel Love I Love You Last Dance MacArthur Park Heaven Knows Bad Girls Hot Stuff The Wanderer Love Is In Control Henry Lee Summer: I haven't got the slightest idea Supertramp: Very good songwriting, decent musicianship, sorry I don't like Rodger Hodsons voice too much. Their songs do speak to me though. Clever and reflective lyrics. If only they didn't sound so damned whiny. Favorites = The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, and one that hit the top ten around November or December of '82 that I can't remember the name of but really liked at the time. Haven't heard it in 15-18 years. Boogie-is it still running slow for you? I'd hate to offend anyone by deleting their posts!  That's true about Donna's songs.....good observation! |

Sugarloaf - I've always loved "Don't Call Us" - which I heard first -and Green Eyed Lady - love that bassline.I have both on CD ,would like to investigate further sometime. Faves - Don't Call Us , We'll Call You and Green Eyed Lady Sugar Ray - To put it simply - some songs I like and other I don't LOL. Their latest material has been very disappointing - but this is just my opinion  Faves - Answer The Phone - to me their best ! and Every Morning even if it was a just a wee bit overplayed. Donna Summer - Yes I've played Donna quite a few times at weddings. I've enjoyed quite a few of her songs. Faves - Last Dance , Hot Stuff , She Works Hard For The Money , On The Radio and Love To Love You Baby . Henry Lee Summer - The only tune I remember is I Wish I had a Girl - which to me still sounds great today - burned it on to a mix CD quite a while back. I remember seeing him perform on David Letterman's show - he was sooo happy to be there he couldn't sit still LOL. Faves - I Wish I Had a Girl Supertramp - I don't have anything of their's on disc but have various songs on a variety of mix tapes. My brother had(has) Crime of The Century on vinyl when I was growing up my cousin had Even in The Quietest Moments and a buddy of mine had a couple of their albums on cassette when we were in High School. Faves - Hide in Your Shell , It's Raining Again , Bloody Well Right , The Logical Song , Give a little Bit , Even in The Quietest Moments , Goodbye Stranger , Take The Long Way Home , Dreamer and Cannnonball. Ken, judging by your tastes, I think you'd like Henry's other two singles from that album! |

Sugarloaf - This is a group I wouldn't mind investigating more closely. I've always loved 'Green Eyed Lady', and when I first heard 'Don't Call Us, We'll Call You' back in 1992, I was really impressed. Love the "Beatles" riff! Sugar Ray - Not a clue. Donna Summer - Wonderfully talented vocalist. I like just about everything I've ever heard of hers. That On the Radio collection is great, I agree. Favorites: This Time I Know It's for Real, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, Last Dance, Dim All the Lights, I Feel Love, Heaven Knows, She Works Hard for the Money, MacArthur Park. Henry Lee Summer - Not familiar with him. Supertramp - I really enjoy their music, especially the Breakfast in America era material. As Boogie stated, their songwriting is especially strong. Favorites: Give a Little Bit, The Logical Song, Goodbye Stranger, Breakfast in America, Take the Long Way Home, It's Raining Again (Boogie, I think this is the one you're thinking of), My Kind of Lady, Cannonball. Sugarloaf- one hit wonder (but quite a hit) Donna Summer- love "Love to Love You Baby" (full version), but that and "She Works Hard for the Money" is about it. Henry Lee Summer- wasn't he America's most prolific serial killer? (Portrait of Henry) Supertramp- faves- "Even in the Quietest Moments", and "Bloody Well Right" and "School". Isn't the album "Even in the Quietest Moments" available now? I have the old LP, with of course the title song. Actually, Sugarloaf has the two hits! Yes, actually Even in the Quietest Moments was reissued recently, I just wanted it to be on a compilation! |

Sugarloaf---Like pretty much everyone else, am only familiar with "Green-Eyed Lady" and "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You." Like 'em both. I think the reason they went with "Jerry Corbetta/Sugarloaf" is that IIRC, Corbetta was the only member from "Green-Eyed Lady" to be on "Don't Call Us..." Sugar Ray--All I know is "Every Morning"--OK if a bit overplayed. Donna Summer--Queen of Disco, managed to have a few hits into the 80s. Faves: Last Dance, Hot Stuff, She Works Hard For The Money, Heaven Knows. Henry Lee Summer--Heard of him(think he toured with Chicago a few times), but don't know his music. Supertramp. Well-crafted British pop-rock. Faves--Give A Little Bit, Logical Song, Take The Long Way Home, Dreamer. Well you certainly know your Sugarloaf! |

Sugarloaf--Wished they had more hits than the 2 top 10's. But both PHENOMENALLY great! Unlike most here, heard "Don't call us" first, on my sister's "DiscoMania" LP in 1975. "Lady" didn't come until 1983. A great, VERY overlooked rock band from Denver. BTW, the other 3 members on "Green eyed lady" besides Jerry were ALL named Bob! Faves: Green eyed lady (FULL album version; the organ COOKS) Don't call us we'll call you Tongue in cheek Mother nature's wine Stars in my eyes Things gonna change some Train kept a rollin' Sugar Ray--one of the better bands of the last 10 years. But "Fly" is not the same without SuperCat. And absolutely SICK of "Someday"--PA's, make it stop! Faves: Is she really going out with him (YAY! One of the best remakes I've heard in awhile, and one of 2003's best!)
