Let's go back to the age of disco for this one. Here were the top 10 songs on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, from May 19, 1979.
10. 'Heart of Glass' - Blondie 9. 'He's the Greatest Dancer' - Sister Sledge 8. 'Take Me Home' - Cher 7. 'Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)' - Jacksons 6. 'Love You Inside Out' - Bee Gees 5. 'Goodnight Tonight' - (Paul McCartney &) Wings 4. 'Stumblin' In' - Suzi Quatro & Chris Norman 3. 'In the Navy' - Village People 2. 'Hot Stuff' - Donna Summer 1. 'Reunited' - Peaches & Herb
Any thoughts or memories of these songs?

Oh man, is this chart "of the times" or what?? LOL!
It's pure disco! Ok, maybe Stumblin' in isn't really (Although you could sorta dance to it) and Reunited is a ballad, but Peached and Herb had become a disco act (See Shake Your Grove Thing!).
My Lord, even Paul's song is disc! Having said that, it is one of my fave Paul songs! I remember playing this constantly when it was out!
Great Blondie tune. Didn't remember the Cher tune back then, but years later when my dad bought it. And I guess I didn't realize the Jacksons were still crankin' out hits up til Off the Wall!

OK. Let me think, I was in High School so they all bring back great memories, especially the slow ones ;D. I remember those parties my school friends had in their houses in the carport were the boys would wait for the slow songs to ask the girls to dance. I really enjoyed those parties. I had the best years while I was in High School.

Wow, this WAS the disco era, wasn't it? LOL!
I was in the 10th grade in '79, and can remember hearing these songs pretty much non-stop back then. Of all the songs listed, I suppose my favorite would be "Love You Inside Out". I was kinda on a Bee Gees kick back then, and couldn't get enough of 'em.
A friend of mine was way into Donna Summer, and I have fond memories of "Hot Stuff" playing on her stereo whenever she'd have parties.
I always thought "Reunited" was a very pretty song. I like it a lot. Also like "Shake Your Body" and "Stumblin' In".
Not a bad list, considering it's pretty much all disco. ;D

That was my very same thought! I think this must have been when disco was at its peak! Like you, I don't remember hearing Cher's 'Take Me Home' back then. I agree with you about 'Goodnight Tonight' - what a great song!

I remember going to a few parties like that in high school, and they were always a lot of fun. 'Reunited' would have been perfect for one of those slow dances!

I had honestly forgotten how much of an impact that style of music had back then. I've always loved it - it never fails to lift my spirits! 'Love You Inside Out' has always been a favorite of mine also. They were unstoppable back then - so many great songs! 'Hot Stuff' is definitely one of Donna's best! 'Reunited' is such a beautiful song. I liked it back then, but I've grown to love it even more in recent years.

I was living in England, sick of disco, and and turned to listening to the country music of the time (Waylon & Willie, Kris Kristofferson, Kenny Rogers, Barbara Mandrell, Tanya Tucker, Oak Ridge Boys, etc). Heart of Glass and Reunited would be my favorites from this list, with Goodnight Tonight & Stumblin' In being ok songs.

Hey Dawn. Great post you started.I've been away, and have to catch up.
Wasn't a disco fan, but I'll take Inside and Out just because it's the Bee Gees.
Reunited is a funny title for a song that featured a new 70s Peaches. (good song though.)
In the Navy was so lame that it was funny.
