I always say 1966-1976 was THE BEST time period in music, and there is evidence of that here! While not his best, Tryin' to Get the Feeling Again is a very good Barry Manilow song! Shannon is an excellent song-so sad. Two TV theme songs right in a row! For those that remember my INSANE list, Fooled Around and Fell in Love was VERY high, in the top 10, I believe! Great vocals by Mickey Thomas on that one! And of course, Macca could do no wrong in the mid 70s!

I loved Welcome Back Kotter and it's theme song.Silly Love Songs came off a great album. We played Get Up and Boogie in Jr.High School band. Welcome Back, Kotter was such a funny show! I've always loved the theme song to it as well. There are some great songs on Wings at the Speed of Sound, such as 'Silly Love Songs' and 'Let 'Em In'.

So many excellent songs were recorded during that era! It was years before I realized that 'Shannon' was about a dog - for the longest time, I thought it was about a little girl!! I remember that about your INSANE list - I'm pretty sure that 'Fool Around' was top 10, maybe even top 5! Great song!

Not real big on the B. Manilow or H. Gross songs.
Misty Blue is a real pretty song
Welcome Back Kotter (imo) is the better show & better theme song.
Couple of disco numbers, they were ok
Elvin Bishop, now you're talking. Elvin is great. Got his greatest hits on CD.
Not my favorite from D. Ross
Silly Love Songs is one my favorites from Sir Paul.

It took a while for 'Misty Blue' to grow on me, but I love it now - what a beautiful song. I'm not too familiar with Elvin Bishop's material other than 'Fooled Around', but he does a wonderful job on that one. I'll have to check out his greatest hits sometime.

Hey--how'd I miss this list? Anyway... I have two 45's of the "Welcome Back" song. One says "Welcome Back" and one says "Welcome Back, Kotter". Boogie Fever--The Sylvers were Jackson Five wannabes, imo. Having said that, I do like this song. I was obsessed with Silly Love Songs back in the day. I had the 45 and played it constantly. I can remember my brother coming into my room once after I had played the song over and over about 10 times. He told me to either play something different, or turn the sound down so he couldn't hear it! He loved his little sister so much. LOL! ;D

I remember I used to play songs I loved over and over too!

Good list in '76.
Being (along with Sat) MC's resident Manilow defender, I will concentrate on "Tryin to get that feeling Again". It brings back memories of a time when my then girlfriend and I were going through a period of indecision. It clearded up, we were engaged a couple months later, and are now heading toward our 27th anniversary. But the song was playing as I was driving to the Atlanta airport to pick her up, and the opening line "Doctor my woman is coming back home late today" still sends chills down my spine. -- And then later, "Silly Love Songs" became one of our songs.
I like the sitcom duo of Happy Days and Welcome Back. Both great songs, both great sitcoms.

I have never understood why many people have taken to criticizing Manilow so harshly. He recorded such wonderful music back in the 70's, and has always been a person of dignity and class. I'm glad everything worked out well for you and your wife! It's always interesting how songs play such a prominent role in the special times of our lives.
