One week before the release of Sgt. Pepper!
Lots of goodies here, but the best song on this list is in the #1 spot!

Good stuff here, but numbers 8 & 7 are so WRONGFULLY ignored by oldies radio!!
Actually, I wish my "timeless rock" station here would play those two songs! Those artists get played, so I see no reason why not!

"Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" is top-notch early Neil Diamond. I also enjoyed the remake by Urge Overkill which was featured in the movie Pulp Fiction in 1995.
"Groovin" is the ultimate song for floating down a mellow river in a raft or innertube with not a care in the world.
And of course, one of the greatest vocal performances of the rock era is sitting at #2 on this chart. Aretha Franklin's song is overplayed but an incredible example of her talent. "Sock it to me"

Those artists get played, so I see no reason why not! I hear 'Creeque Alley' occasionally (although not too often), but it's been AGES since I've heard 'Him or Me' on the radio! Like you, I can't understand why those songs aren't getting more airplay. Both were top 10 hits by established 60's groups - you'd think they would be perfect choices for oldies radio!

"Sock it to me" I think Neil Diamond hasn't always gotten due respect as a songwriter and performer. Songs such as 'Girl' are classics, and still stand up well today. Although I've grown a little tired of 'Respect' due to overplay, I do agree with you that it really showcases Aretha's vocal abilities.

Great list! Groovin' and The Happening are the best ones there. 'Groovin' is outstanding - I've always loved it. 'The Happening' is another good one, and is one of my favorite Supremes songs.

Ahhh 1967 a very memorable year. Good one, Dawn. 10. I really liked early Neil Diamond (Solitary Man, Kentucky Woman, Cherry Cherry and this one.) "Girl.... "may be my fave Diamond. Later on he turned into a club singer, and I didn't like him as much. 9. In '67, we used to refer to this as "The Incest Song" 8. Musically, not their best, but I like the story. 7. Always liked this one. - Maybe Revere's best. 6. Kinda liked it when it came out, but boy does it get overplayed as an oldie! 5. Take it or leave it. Always thought the tune for The Happening sounded like something else, but could never figure out what. 4. Yeah, I know it's Englebert. But I happen to likethis one song -- so shoot me. 3. Didn't care for most of their other covers, but this one seemed to suit their style. 2. A classic!! I must like it more than I think, because they really overplay it now,but I don't get tired of it. 1. This brought the Rascals up a notch -- a BIG notch!

Come to think of it, the lyrics of 'Somethin' Stupid' do sound rather strange when sung by a father and daughter! Oh, you are so right about 'Sweet Soul Music'. Not a bad song, but it's been horribly overplayed through the years.

My mom loves Neil Diamond and Engelbert, so I heard those two songs a lot growing up. If only Tom Jones were on this list, I could show it to her and she'd be darn proud her top three fave singers made the top 10 in '67. LOL!
I think Groovin' is my favorite from this list. It's always been one of my favorite songs. Never get tired of hearing it!

Neil Diamond - Neil is great, but I just not crazy about this song. Prefer Cherry Cherry, Kentucky Woman, & Thank The Lord for the Nighttime
Frank & Nancy did some great songs, but imo their best ones were solo efforts.
Mamas & Papas did some great songs, I'm just not crazy about this one, but it's okay.
Sweet Soul Music may be overplayed, but I still like to crank this one up.
The Happening was a pretty good song from Diana & the girls.
Respect by Aretha Franklin is one great song. One of the true legends of the 60s.
Groovin' was the Rascals 2nd #1 and the proto-typical "summer song." How can you not think of a lakefront campfire on a warm summer night while listening to this song.

I feel the same way about 'Groovin'. Even though I've heard it often on oldies radio over the years, I've never grown tired of it. Great song!

You're right about 'Groovin' - truly a summertime classic!
