Hard to believe it's been 34 years since the summer of '69. What a fun summer that was, at least for me.
Too Busy Thinking About My Baby - A DJ friend of mine did an on air dedication of this song to my daughter the day after she was. Always liked the song & the late great Marvin Gaye.
These Eyes, Bad Moon Rising, & Get Back - All good songs by some great classic rockers.
The rest were all good AM pop songs that were fun to listen to.

Never was big on Get Back. At least not this version.
Little burnt on Bad Moon Rising.
And Elvis was relavent once again with a political song! Hey, he coulda got FM play with a song like this!

What a perfect song to dedicate to your daughter! Marvin was a tremendous talent, and 'Too Busy' is such a classic. 'These Eyes' is wonderful, and is my favorite Guess Who song. I've loved it ever since I was very young.

I also like Hugh Masekela's version, but this one is my favorite. I'm also a little burnt on 'Bad Moon Rising'. I like CCR's music, but it's been played much too often on the radio over the years. 'In the Ghetto' is one of my favorite Elvis songs. I've always liked his mid-60's and later material best.

Some fine tunes Get Back - Awesome - remember heaaring it when I was very little. These Eyes - The guys were on their way with quite a long string of hits! I remember my cousin having the Greatest Hits album. In the Ghetto - One of Elvis' best from the later part of his career , showing that he still had it. Bad Moon Rising - Remember hearing this along with many other CCR tunes as a kid:)

Good stuff here! These Eyes is one of my all time favorite Guess Who songs. Also Love Grazing in the Grass and Love Can Make You Happy. In the Ghetto is the first 45 I owned by Elvis. My mom really liked Oh Happy Day and I can remember her singing that song in the house quite a bit.

I remember my cousin having the Greatest Hits album. In the Gheto - One of Elvis' best from the later part of his career , showing that he still had it. Bad Moon Rising - Remember hearing this along with many other CCR tunes as a kid:) I love that Guess Who greatest hits album! Every song on there is a winner! I really like a lot of Elvis' later songs. His voice seemed to be richer and more soulful as he got older. 'Bad Moon Rising' and 'Lookin' Out My Back Door' are two of the first CCR songs I remember hearing. I was very young at the time - 3 or 4 years old.

Too Busy Thinking About My Baby - I bought the 2 disc Anthology, and this is one of those tracks I listen to most often. I wish he were still here today.. Aquarius/ Let the Sunshine In - I love the 5th Dimension! One of my favorites. In The Ghetto - I also prefer his later material, and this is absolutely one of his best. Makes me tear up sometimes when I hear it! Get Back and Bad Moon Rising - Two of Paul and CCR's best songs.

I can still remember how shocked I was when I heard of his death back in 1984. What a senseless tragedy. I'm the same way with 'In the Ghetto'. It's definitely one of his most emotional songs.

(Still trying to catch up -or actually work backwards to the 3rd.)
The dawning of the Age of Aquarius! The summer of Woodstock! One of the best!
These Eyes is one of my favorite songs of all time. Great intro, love the bass -- love the whole song.
Acquarius/Let The Sunshine In is in the opinion of many, the top song of 1969. I like it a lot for what it meant -- what it represented. I believe that's its strength. Without the "magic", it would be just another song.
Bad Moon Rising -- Typical vintage CCR. Therefore a great song!
Get Back - Surprisingly no one mentioned Billy Preston playing with the Fab Four on this one. One of my favorite Beatles tunes. "Get Back, JoJo."
Good song by Marvin
One of the better "Fat Elvis" songs.
Can take or leave most of the rest--but I can't understand what The Edwin Hawkins Singers were doing on the pop charts. They didn't belong there, IMO.

I just heard 'These Eyes' today on Spinner internet radio. I could listen to that song a hundred times in a row and never tire of it! Billy Preston's organ playing on 'Get Back' is superb - it really makes the song, IMO.

I remember hearing about it right after it happened, and to this day, it still makes me angry. Never ever should've happened.. what a special and gifted man he was. His Anthology is one of the most played out of my collection! I also meant to comment on what you said about the soulful sound Elvis Presley had in his later years, which is so true. Very rich and emotional. I would've loved to have seen him perform live had I been old enough during those years. My aunt kept a small calender from 1977 that I have tucked away, always makes me think of his passing and how much he is still missed after all these years.

About 3 years ago, I saw a program on VH-1 about Marvin, and it was really interesting - I wish now that I'd taped it. It gave a lot of insight into both his personal and professional life. What his father did was absolutely horrible - shooting his own son over a petty quarrel. Like you, it still makes me angry to think of the circumstances of his death.
