Hey Dawn! 1986 - Just past my limit of 1985. But this is the year that I'm starting to investigat, so I know some of these. On My Own is OK. I've always liked Patti LaBelle. But wouldn't call this more than OK. There'll Be Sad Songs. - This song just sounds "strange" to me - not bad -- just strange. -- Like maybe it was assembled too quickly. I dunno. No One Is To Blame - Fairly good middle-of-the road ballad., but nothing to write home about. Who's Johnny - I like this one. It's catchy. Good rhythm and arrangement. Hey H2! 'On My Own' isn't a bad song, but I agree that it isn't Patti's best. Her voice seems better suited to the more uptempo numbers. I remember I didn't care for 'No One is to Blame' much at all at first. It's grown on me more in recent years, but I still prefer some of his other work, such as 'Things Can Only Get Better'.

YEESH! Stuff was getting bad already! ONLY winner here, of course, is Heart. That is why classic rock stands. El Debarge, Simply Red, the Jets and George Michael all on one chart! Pass the air sick bag! Even Madonna's tune-that is my least fave of her big tunes. LOL about the air sick bag! Seriously, I agree that music was starting to become less consistently good overall by this time.

Uh-oh, with the exception of Madonna and Howard Jones, I don't care for any of these. Well, maybe add Simply Red..... I agree that this isn't a great chart overall. But I've always loved 'Holding Back the Years' - it has a sophisticated sound that really stood out at the time.
