Hey Dawn! This was a very good chart. Many faves. 10. She's Out of My Life - Michael Jackson: Actually this is in my all time top 250. I certainly don't have a lot of respect for Michael's "life-style" but he/she/it can really sing those ballads. This is a fabulous song. 9. Cupid/I’ve Loved You for a Long Time - Spinners: One of many "double hit"for them. I like some of their original stuff better, but this is a good one also. 8. Biggest Part of Me - Ambrosia: Doesn't she post on this board? Not a bad song for a short-lived band. 7. Steal Away - Robbie Dupree: Or do you mean "What A Fool Believes" Part. 2? I gues Robbie loved the Doobies sound so much that he decided to "borrow" their melody. 6. Little Jeannie - Elton John: Notmy fave from Elton. 5. Against the Wind - Bob Seger:This gets overplayed, but I've always liked it. 4. It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me - Billy Joel: Very clever song. Billy expressed feelings about rock music thatI've always agreed with. 3. The Rose - Bette Midler: Next to Wind Beneath My Wings, this is my fave by Bette. She's got a lot of talent, but for the most part, her style appeals more to my wife than to me. 2. Funkytown - Lipps, Inc.: One of my faves on the chart today. Love that sound! 1. Coming Up - Paul McCartney & Wings: Yet another great one by them.

10. I have to admit this is a nice tune - Mike sings it well.
9. Didn't hear this a lot at the time . They do a nice job . I like quite a few of their songs.
8. I love this track - nice laid back feel to it . Ambrosia were a great band.
7. Another winner , H2 is right it does have that doobie kind of sound to it. Loved it at the time , and found the 45 not long ago.
6.After a bit of a dip in the late 70's Elton bounced back . Among my faves from him.
5.Great track!! - Still gets lots of airplay
4. The second single released from the Glass Houses album. Remember seeing the video at the time.
3.Bette did a really nice job on this.
2.Remember listening to this at my cousin's friend's house at the time.
1.LOVE the live version - just fantastic!

I like a lot more songs from 1980 than I thought I did, but this must have been a weak week (uh... yeah....)
I like Ambrosia, Robbie Dupree, Elton John, and Lipps..
The McCartney song is OK, but not among his best..
Nothing else here I'm too crazy about.

I've very seldom heard it on the radio in the years since it was current, for some reason. That is so true about Robbie Dupree. I hadn't picked up on the similarity between the two songs until I posted a thread about him on YL, and several people pointed it out. The two are very similar - I'm surprised he thought he could get away with it, especially so soon after 'What A Fool Believes' was released.

The studio version is okay, but it doesn't have the energy of the live version. Great video, though!

The McCartney song is OK, but not among his best.. Nothing else here I'm too crazy about. 'Funkytown' has always been a favorite of mine. As Ken mentioned, 'Little Jeannie' was a good "comeback" hit for Elton, after several lean years.

Music was still great!
Actually don't know the Michael tune.
Dupree, Segar, Joel, and McCartney are all above average tunes. Little Jeannie, I always say, is Elton's best post-Kiki tune.
I can do without The Rose and Funkytown.
The real winners here are Cupid/I've Loved You For a Long Time (yes, I like it better than the original. Sorry!) and Biggest part of Me. Love Amberosia's big tunes!!

As I mentioned to H2, it has gotten very little airplay over the years. I'm with you about 'Cupid/I've Loved You for a Long Time' being better than the original. They do a great version of it!

Hi Dawn
Favorites on this chart are Spinners (nice cover of Cupid), Seger (one of his best), Bette (great love song), & Lipps, Inc (Funkytown was a really good song)
The songs by Elton, Billy, & Sir Paul were good, just not my favorites.
The other three I didn't like at all.

I really love Ambrosia's music also. One of these days, I need to pick up their greatest hits CD. I agree that the live version of 'Coming Up' is terrific! The studio version is okay, but it doesn't have the energy of the live version. Great video, though! Couldn't agree more about the Coming Up video - it is fun to watch! The live version does have that extra punch that 's missing from the studio version.

The other three I didn't like at all. Hi dodger! I agree, Bette does a wonderful job with 'The Rose' - it's my favorite of all of her songs, with a beautiful, almost haunting, melody. And Bob Seger's 'Against the Wind' is a classic!
