Not a bad chart.
Lots of "classic rock" sounding artists here-38 Special, Cougar, Survivor & Toto.
Only the Lonely is good, and any Mac is good.
And I gotta say, I DO like Tainted Love!

Oh my has it really been 21 years?? all I can say is WOW I feel so old! "resting head against monitor" 10.I still really like this!- I have a compilation CD plus two of the albums on vinyl. They were a great band. Heard this alot at the time . 9.Another good one - I had originally recorded it off the radio but have had the 45 for a couple of years now. 8.I've started to hear this again quite frequently - I think I mentioned before that we have a new radio station here in town that plays mostly 70's and 80's tunes (with the odd 60's song thrown in) they play 80's material I haven't heard since it was originally released! 7.Always liked this one 6.One of my favorite "Mac" Tunes from the 80's. Ialways thought Christine had a excellent voice. 5. That's so funky - yeah I have to admit that's a good one. 4.I Really liked it at the time and still listen to it occasionally. I liked a few of their songs. I bought the 45 of High on You when it came out. 3.The tune that made John a household name. Still sounds great today . Fine solid drumming from Kenny Aronoff. Bought the 45 very quickly! 2. I heard this about a week ago on the radio ( I have it on casette - but it's been a while since I listened to it) and it just sounded so good! 1.This recieved alot of airplay in my area at the time . Thought it was good.

Hey Dawn! Early '80s beat late '80s by a mile. 10. Caught Up in You - 38 Special Decent. 9. Only the Lonely - Motels When I first heard of this title, I thought I was going to hear a cover of the Orbison song. Of course it isn't, but I really do like this one. Like the lead singer's voice. 8. Tainted Love - Soft Cell My fave on today's chart. I think Marc Almond sounds a little bit like Jim Morrison here. 7. Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me - Juice Newton Good, light country rock. 6. Hold Me - Fleetwood Mac These guys were still cranking out hits. 5. Let It Whip - Dazz Band No thanks. 4. Eye of the Tiger - Survivor Got a little tired of this one. It gave birth, however, to a pretty funny weird Al parody. 3. Hurts So Good - John Cougar One of his good early hits. 2. Rosanna - Toto Good song. I remember back in '82 the Washington Redskins Marching Band used to play this at halftime. My only question is: Why? 1. Don't You Want Me - Human League Good song -- although it almost sounds like two people testifying in front of Judge Judy!

Great year for music AND movies. Spent most of this summer in the pool at my Dad's apartment in Virginia playing Marco Polo or in the arcade trying in vain to master Galaga.
10. Caught Up in You – 38 Special My favorite by this southern rock group. Excellent sound that never grows old.
9. Only the Lonely – Motels Nice California rock from this female-led band. I remember the video very well with Martha playing a mysterious widow in a bar.
8. Tainted Love – Soft Cell The song that wouldn't die. Stayed on the chart for something like 9 months. Really liked the version of "Where Did Our Love Go" at the end. The 12" version is far superior to the radio edit.
7. Love’s Been a Little Bit Hard on Me – Juice Newton Barely remember this. Not too fond of Juice Newtons music.
6. Hold Me – Fleetwood Mac First single off the followup to "Tusk" this is one of their better post-Rumors recordings. Lindsay and Christine shared lead vocals here.
5. Let It Whip – Dazz Band Ridiculous lyrics but an infectious groove. Preferred their 1984 followups "Joystick" and "(Swoop) I'm Yours"
4. Eye of the Tiger – Survivor The theme song from Rocky III went on to spend six weeks at number one. Powerful track that makes me want to do situps and crunches (well, almost)
3. Hurts So Good – John Cougar This is the song that launched John Cougar (Mellencamp) into star status. He'd been hitting the charts for three years but never getting enough combined airplay and sales to crack the top 10. This sing along anthem and it's followup "Jack and Diane" made him a household name by Autumn of '82.
2. Rosanna – Toto Words can not properly articulate my hatred of this song....and of this band. Awful song, stupid video, was on the radio every 20 minutes. Rest in piece Jeff Pocaro. Only thing Toto EVER recorded that I liked was "Hold the Line".
1. Don’t You Want Me – Human League Great danceable synth song that is popular even today among a younger generation. First chart appearance for this group took them all the way to the top. One of the best of a summer full of superb songs!

NOOOOOO! It wasn't that long ago!!!
10) Not a bad song. Wasn't a huge fan of this group, but this one's ok. 9) I loved this one. She's in my vocal range so it's fun to sing. 8) I've loved this one up until a few years ago - now I'm getting kind of sick of it. 7) The video was funny, but not a fan of the song. 6) Good song by a good group. 5) I see visions when I hear this song: Women dancing, and the phrase "Tampax was here". !#!O$ commercials! 4) Got tired of this one - the whole Rocky/Philly thing. Plus we played it in band alot, and my part on the xylophone was the ddudududududududududu background part. I played one note repeatedly until the chorus, when I got to play a few more. 3) Not a bad song, but I like others better. 2) I heard this was written for Rosanna Arquette, but TV's been steering me wrong lately.... 1) LOVE this one. Don't think I'll ever get sick of it.

Caught Up in You--The local classic rock station plays 38 Special to DEATH, and I'm really tired of hearing anything by them. Only the Lonely--Always liked the Motels. This is a good song by them. Tainted Love--Really like it. And wasn't it used in some commercial a few years ago? It was a funny commercial. Too bad I can't remember the product. LOL! Love's Been a Little Bit Hard on Me--Like it a lot. Haven't heard it for a good many years. Hold Me--Not bad, but there are plenty of other Mac songs I like better. Let it Whip--One of those songs that now that it's in my head, it won't leave for the next year or so. Eye of the Tiger--Had this 45 and played it ALL the time. Probably haven't heard it in 10 years or so. Good song. Hurts so Good--Like it. A little overplayed, though. Rosanna--I think I've told the story before of how a friend's boyfriend used to play that Toto album all the time when we were visiting. If I never hear that song again, it'll be too soon. ;D Don't You Want Me--Another overplayed song. I like their (Keep Feeling) Fascination better.

Hi Dawn - Only a so-so chart for me today
Good classic rock from 38 Special, Fleetwood Mac, Survivor, John, Couger, & Toto.
Juice Newton added some country flavor the chart.
Only the Lonely in a good song
Don't know the other three.

'Hold Me' is a song I've always enjoyed. I've never understood why the critics were so harsh about their Mirage album. There are some really good songs on it. 'Tainted Love' is outstanding, one of my top 10 songs of the 80's! I absolutely love it!

I completely agree about Christine. She really does have a good voice! I have Survivor's greatest hits on cassette, but haven't listened to it in quite a while. 'Eye of the Tiger' was a favorite of mine also back in the day!

I'm surprised the group didn't have more hits. The Redskins! My dad was a big fan of theirs back then, and still is! I'm not sure why they would have chosen 'Rosanna' for their halftime show - it does seem like an unusual choice! LOL about Judge Judy! Now that you mention it, it does sound like that! ;D

One of the best of a summer full of superb songs! 'Caught Up in You' is classic 38 Special. I still hear it fairly often on the classic rock stations. Good song! I picked up a 80's hits CD at a yard sale a few weeks ago that had the 'Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go?' mix on it. Prior to that, I don't think I'd ever heard that version before. It's really good! You're absolutely right about John Cougar. I'd heard 'This Time' and 'Ain't Even Done With the Night' back when they were current, but didn't really take note of him as an artist until American Fool was released. Great album, BTW!

I've heard that about Rosanna Arquette too. It seems like she may have been dating one of the band members at the time it was written, but I'm not positive. I agree, 'Don't You Want Me' is great! It really brings back memories!

You're right - 'Tainted Love' was used in a commercial for Levi's jeans! I loved that commercial - it was so funny when all the doctors started singing along! I would have loved to have taped that one! I really like Juice Newton's music, but don't hear it on the radio very often, unfortunately. This one has always been a favorite. LOL about the 'Rosanna' story! ;D I would have gotten pretty tired of that myself!
