Again, a mixed bag. Top 40 was still good, but.....
10. ICK. Not a Bowie fan, but this is BAD. This and Let's Dance.
9. Not a Culture Club fan, but there was worse than this.
8. Great tune, my fave from them, cool video.
7. One of Stevie's signature tunes (after Edge of Seventeen, of course), and one of my faves. Pretty much saving this chart.
6. Cool tune, overlooked when compared to the first album singles.
5. Novelty tune, not bad, not good.
4. Not bad, but nowhere near her disco stuff.
3. ICK. Always hated this, but actually have it on a K-Tel album.
2. Didn't like this either. They had better tunes.
1. Put this one to rest. Their best tune is over on the Album of the Day!

10. I don't know this one. But Adam mentioned Let's Dance...If this song's anything like Let's Dance, every copy needs to be burned.
9. I like this song, mostly for its presence in Billy Madison. Seeing Adam Sandler dancing on the stairs with this song playing in the background is priceless.
8. Don't know this one.
7. Another great Stevie tune.
6. Don't know it.
5. Ugh. I like this song, but not this version. I've heard the Taco version once and I wanted to die. It's horrible.
4. The best song on here. Love it. Her greatest non-disco tune.
3. Not familiar with this one either.
2. Love it, love it, love it.
1. Deserving of the number one spot. Although I have to say that I like I'll Be Missing You (the Puff Daddy song that sampled this one) much better.

10. I thought it was ok but not as strong as Let's Dance or Modern love - I liked them a lot still do.
9.Not a huge fan.
8.Thought it was good , catchy pop
7.Among Stevie's best solo tracks heard it lots back in the day.
6.This was a big fave at the time - I still enjoy listening to them.
5. This recieved an enormous amount of airplay locally thought it was alright.
4.Thought it was good saw the video quite a bit on Friday Night Videos.
3.It was ok I guess amother tune that was really overplayed. It's ok now to hear once in a while.
2.Didn't like it when I first heard it at all but that soon changed the more I heard it the more I liked it.
1. Still like it yes even after hearing it 50 billion times on the radio LOL- and thought the B&W video clip was very cool back then.

Hi Dawn
10. China Girl - Not nearly as good as the Bowie of the 70s.
9. I'll Tumble 4 Ya - They did worse, this one wasn't so bad.
8. Fascination - ?
7. Stand Back - One of Stevie's best.
6. It's a Mistake - Not my favorite by Men at Work
5. Puttin' on the Ritz - I've always loved this song. I'll always associate it with Gene Wilder & Peter Boyle singing & dancing to it in Young Frankenstein.
4. She Works Hard for the Money - Not a bad song from Donna.
3. Maniac - Overplayed
2. Sweet Dreams - Great debut song, one of my favorites by them.
1. Every Breath You Take - Good song from the Police

China Girl--Yuck. Awful. Just awful. I'll Tumble 4 Ya--Nice little upbeat tune. Fascination--Had the 12" single of this, and I played it all the time. Loved it! Stand Back--Great Stevie tune. One of her best! It's a Mistake--Not bad. I can tolerate it. Puttin' on the Ritz--I like the song, but that Taco guy creeped me out in that video. LOL! She Works Hard for the Money--Love Donna, but this song is WAY overplayed. Maniac--Not too bad. I've seen Flashdance about a billion times. Never get tired of it. LOL! Sweet Dreams--The intro to this sounds just like Sunglasses at Night. Just an FYI for ya. Every Breath You Take--Please make it stop! I've heard that song enough for 3 lifetimes.

I used to dislike ‘I’ll Tumble 4 Ya’ years ago, but it’s grown on me somewhat since then. It’s not a bad song, but not one of their best. ‘Stand Back’ is one of my favorites on this chart as well. She does such a great job on that one. I have that K-tel album on cassette– Hot Tracks! There are some cool songs on that one, like ‘Don’t Pay the Ferryman’.

I actually like ‘China Girl’, but I’ve read that it’s one of David’s least well-liked songs. I remember I wasn’t crazy about it when it was popular, but I’ve grown to like it more and more over the years. I’ve never seen Billy Madison, but the scene you describe sounds pretty interesting! I’ll have to check it out sometime! ‘Sweet Dreams’ is a favorite of mine also. Love the synths on it!

It’s hard to believe it’s been that long – seems like just yesterday! Listening to Men At Work’s songs always brings back a lot of memories. I really enjoy their music, and ‘It’s A Mistake’ is probably my favorite song from their Cargo album. ‘Maniac’ was pretty overplayed back then, I agree. I’ve always liked it, though. LOL about ‘Every Breath You Take’. It is a classic Police song, no doubt about it. I’ve actually never seen the video, but I’ll keep an eye out for it on VH-1 Classic!

The lyrics are fun, and I really like the keyboard work on it. I agree, ‘Sweet Dreams’ was a very strong debut for them.

Wonder whatever became of him – he just kinda disappeared after that song was popular. You are so right about the intros to ‘Sunglasses at Night’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’ being similar! I hadn’t really picked up on it back then, but they are a lot alike!

Please reassure me it wasn't that long ago......
10) This was my least favorite off the Let's Dance album. 9) I hated this one at one point, but it's really grown on me. Look for Naomi Campbell in the video tap dancing in the background. 8) LOVE this one - the Human League rock! 7) Eh. Not one of my favorites of hers. 6) Love this one too. Has interesting lyrics. May have to do this one next. 5) No. Just no. 4) Love it. Donna makes a great point. 3) No thanks. Got so sick of it. 2) Great song. 1) Love it.

Hey Dawn,
A couple of good ones, but most are just so-so, on this chart, IMO.
10. China Girl - except for Space Oddity, I really don't care much for Bowie's music style.
9. I'll Tumble 4 Ya - Eh
8. (Keep Feeling) Fascination - Barely remember it.
7. Stand Back - Decent, not great.
6. It's A Mistake - Not their best
5. Puttin' on the Ritz - I agree with dodger's comment on Young Frankenstein. I loved the Wilder/Boyle version. Taco wasn't bad.
4. She Works Hard for the Money - No thanks!!
3. Maniac - Not that bad.
2. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) - This is my fave on the chart. Also my fave by the Eurythmics
1. Every Breath You Take - Overplayed. But I kinda like it if I forget it's about a stalker.

I never thought 20 years could go by so fast! Of all the Culture Club songs, ‘I’ll Tumble 4 Ya’ was the only one I didn’t like at first. Looking back, I’m not sure why that was, because it’s not a bad song. ‘It’s a Mistake’ would be a great choice for your lyrics feature!

I do like a lot of his songs, but I’ve never quite understood all the acclaim he gets. ‘Sweet Dreams’ is my favorite Eurythmics song also. Annie Lennox is an excellent vocalist. I remember reading an interview with Sting where he said that he didn’t understand why most people considered ‘Every Breath You Take’ to be a love song, when the lyrics suggested something more sinister. The song is a little unsettling, when put into that context!
