As great as 75 was, this is not one of the better charts. But there are still 3 killer songs-right in a row! 10. Don't know it. 9. Not too bad, pretty cool. 8. Good song that I have gotten a little tired of over the years. Still good though. 7. Good, but sad. 6. Ok, but am real tired of their disco stuff. 5. Not bad, actually probably like better than the original. 4. Now we're talkin'! Eagles go disco! Very funky bass to it. One of my very fave of their big singles. 3. Classic. Cool, corny song! 2. Love this tune that is overlooked on oldies radio in favor of their other hit. 1. Like the Bee Gees disco stuff, this and a few of their other biggies got WAY overplayed.

Another fine mid 70's chart 10.Never heard this at the time. Wasn't aware of it until a few years ago when I bought That 70's Show - That 70's album - Jammin' - Great funk! 9.Always enjoyed this - listened to it all the time back then. Love the "bad" note on the intro. 8.Didn't buy the 45 because I already had the album - (another suggestion for Album of The Day - maybe ?please? Great harmonies by Dee , Nigel and Davy . Just an excellent Elton ballad. 7.Good tune from Janis -yes , very sad . remember this being used in a Simpsons episode. 6.Bought the 45 at the time - it's just so catchy played it lots. 5.Found the 45 back in the early 80's for 50 cents - what a deal! I do remember hearing the little sample of it at the time from Mr.Jaws. 4.Have to agree with Adam - very funky bassline , great falsetto by Don (whoa!) 3. One of my many "guilty pleasures" - LOL remember singing along to it on the radio. 2.A great tune that get's better and better evertime I listen to it. 1.I have this on CD and vinyl - yes a ktel comp - Blockbuster.

That bass riff in ‘One of These Nights’ is great, isn’t it? I loved that song from the first time I heard it back in ’75, and it’s still my favorite of theirs today. ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ is a little corny, but it’s always been a favorite of mine. I really like a lot of Glen’s stuff from that period. You are so right about ‘Fallin’ in Love’ being overlooked. I like ‘Don’t Pull Your Love’, but ‘Fallin’ in Love’ is the better of the two songs by far, IMO.

I don’t remember hearing ‘Fight the Power’ back then either – I think I first heard it in the late 80’s. It does have a great funky beat! Great album suggestion - it will be coming up this week! I’ve always liked this classic from Elton, and I remember when I was a kid, the “sugar bear” lyrics always made me think of the Sugar Bear in the Super Sugar Crisp cereal commercials. Blockbuster – I love that one! I missed getting it back in the day, but I found a copy of it in a used record shop back in the late 80’s. It was so cool to hear some of those songs again!

Hey Dawn. Mixed chart this time. 10. Fight the Power - definitely not one of my faves by the Isleys. I like most of their songs, but not this one particularly 9. Why Can’t We Be Friends? - Why would a group named War have a song with this title?? Not a bad song, though. 8. Someone Saved My Life Tonight - Woo hoo!! Top 100. Ono of my fave 2 or 3 by Elton. But what's with the sugar bear?? 7. At Seventeen - I heard Janis being interviewed a while ago, and she mentioned that she was gay. A lot of the emotions she puts into this song (as well as Societies Child) are based on her fighting with her inner feelings and with being treated like an outcast by her peers while a teenager. Very powerful song. 6. Jive Talkin’ - Aw darn. The Bee Gees are beginning to get the disco bug. But it is a good song, but not one of my faves by them. 5. How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You) - Not a bad cover, but I prefer Marvin on this one. 4. One of These Nights - My favorite group. Fine guitar work on this one. Great song! 3. Rhinestone Cowboy - Eh. Not my fave by him. 2. Fallin’ in Love - Like this one a lot. MUCH better than Don't Pull Your Love, IMO. 1. Get Down Tonight – Don't much care for it.

Why Can’t We Be Friends? - Why would a group named War have a song with this title?? LOL! I've often thought that, too. Same thing with Blood, Sweat & Tears--"You Made Me So Very Happy"!?!

I’ve always liked this classic from Elton, and I remember when I was a kid, the “sugar bear” lyrics always made me think of the Sugar Bear in the Super Sugar Crisp cereal commercials. That confused me when I first heard it. I THOUGHT the lyric sounded like "sugar bear", but that didn't make sense to me, so then I thought it was "she's the best". Turns out "sugar bear" is the correct lyric!

Whenever I'd sing it, I'd then go, "Can't get enough Super Sugar Crisp..." like the bear in the commercial! And this is in recent years! LOL!!

I always thought of the Super Sugar Crisp bear too, Laura! Dawn was the one who said that, not me. (I guess it wasn't clear which part of my message was quoting her.) I was the one who said I used to think the lyric was "she's the best" because I thought "sugar bear" didn't make any sense with the song! A similar thing happened back in about the late 1980's or so when I was listening to a Christian rock program and the dj announced a new song by Steve Taylor, "This Disco Used to Be a Cute Cathedral". I heard that and thought, "Did he say "a CUTE cathedral"? No, that doesn't make any sense; it must be "a HUGE cathedral". That line goes so fast in the song that you can't really tell whether he's singing "cute" or "huge"--it could be either one. But when I read all the song titles on the album, I found out that the word is indeed "cute"!

I noticed right after I posted it that it was Dawn who said it! I'm a dummy! No, you're not. A lot of times when I try to quote someone else's post, the blue writing doesn't come up that separates my words from theirs. That makes it a little hard to read. Hope I did this one right!
