A Fifth of Beethoven –I heard a lot of that song back in that year plus my sister bought the 45 and played it all day long . (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty –Another that was played a lot home but by my brother(RIP) You Should Be Dancing –I personally was a huge fan of the Bee Gees. All their songs remind me about my middle and high school years. My best friend had all their LP's, something I couldn't afford myself, my parents never gave us money for those things only for the "necessary things" .

9. I never liked this song.
8. Aw! I love this one! So sweet and cute, and just too corny for words! It's great!
6. This one'll get stuck in my head sometimes. Good luck gettin' it out, too!
5. Great dance tune. Typical of the times.
1. I don't know this one, but I love the Bee Gees, so I'm sure it's great.

Not bad, not great.
10. Don't know this one.
9. Great track! Love it! So 70's.
8. LOVE IT!! Elton's last truly GREAT track.
7. Cool disco tune.
6. Fun song, love the story of how it came about: They were playing hard rock, and in between songs, a black audience member shouted, "Play that funky music, white boy!" and the rest is history!
5. Overplayed.
4. One of the great soft rock tunes of the 70's.
3. Classic Paul. Love the reference to "brother John".
2. I like this one, but can't listen to it too much.
1. Their disco stuff is overdone.
Ok, this was better than I thought!

Hey Dawn! Nothing near the top of my list this time, but a few good ones anyway.
10. This Masquerade - One of my faves on the chart. Nice soulful ballad. Haven't heard it much lately at all.
9. Lowdown - Another good one.
8. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart - Very catchy tune. 2nd tier Elton, IMO however.
7. A Fifth of Beethoven - It got old fast
6. Play That Funky Music - Another song I could hear just so much. (love Adam's history lesson on it though.)
5. (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty - I never could get in to KC.
4. I’d Really Love to See You Tonight - Nice light song.
3. Let ‘Em In - One of many good ones they cranked out in the '70s
2. You’ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - I really like Lou's voice on this one.
1. You Should Be Dancing - Hate disco, love the Bee Gees. So I'm stuck in the middle with this one. ;D

Hi Dawn - This is a great chart. Little bit of this, little bit that, what's not to like
10. This Masquerade - Didn't like much by George Benson, but I did like this. I believe it's from the "All That Jazz" soundtrack.
9. Lowdown - Great song from one of the great albums of the 70s.
8. Don't Go Breaking My Heart - Elton & Kiki team up for a great song
7. A Fifth of Beethoven - Disco written all over it, but it wasn't bad
6. & 5. Play That Funky Music & Shake Your Booty - Two great funk songs.
4. I'd Really Love to See You Tonight - Every chart needs a ballad, a this is a good one from ED & JFC.
3. Let 'Em In - Classic Paul.
2. You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - Surprisingly, Lou Rawls' only top 10 hit. Great song
1. You Should be Dancing - Not bad from the Bee Gees. They weren't getting overplayed as they would in 1978.

I’ve always been a big fan of the Bee Gees also, and their songs bring back a lot of memories for me as well. Back then, I had a lot of their 45s, but only one album, their 1979 Greatest Hits. I’ve picked up their other mid-to-late 70’s LPs in recent years, and they’re really good for the most part.

I know what you mean – that song does have a way of staying with you after you’ve heard it. I’ve liked it ever since I was a kid. ‘You Should Be Dancing’ is terrific, one of their best. I always want to get up and dance whenever I hear it!

Their disco stuff is overdone. Ok, this was better than I thought! I totally agree – ‘Lowdown’ definitely has that 70’s sound. It’s always been one of my favorites from him. I really like England Dan & John Ford Coley’s songs, and this one is probably my favorite. I have their hits on 45s and K-tel albums, but wouldn’t mind getting a greatest hits CD of theirs. Is the “brother John” reference about John Lennon? I’ve always wondered about who some of the people were – I know brother Michael and Auntie Jin were real people, but I'm not sure about Sister Suzie and some of the others.

I like Lou’s voice on ‘You’ll Never Find…’ also. He has a unique vocal style, somewhere between soul, jazz, and pop. LOL about the Bee Gees! ;D

The Muppet Show – I used to watch that too! I’ve always thought Elton and Kiki did a great job with that one. ‘Play That Funky Music’ brings back a lot of memories for me also! I remember hearing it a lot that summer. I don’t hear ‘You’ll Never Find…” too often either these days, for some reason. The oldies station here used to play it once in a while up until about 6 months or ago, and I don’t think I’ve heard it on there since.

This is one of George’s best songs, but sadly, very overlooked nowadays. You’re absolutely right about ‘Lowdown’ and Silk Degrees. Both are outstanding! That’s true about the Bee Gees not getting played as much at this point. I remember hearing their pre-Saturday Night Fever songs regularly back then, but not as much as the hits from ’77–’79 later on.

Ok - not quite 3, and burning up the roller rink every weekend.
10) Not bad. I enjoy George Benson - good for when you want to mellow.... 9) I'm sure I know this but can't place it. 8) Not bad. One of his that's tolerable. 7) Love this one. My dad is in to instrumentals. 6) So tired of it. Every wedding, $5 day, etc. 5) Love it! KC RULES! 4) Eh. I could never understand them then. "I'm not talkin' 'bout Magellin". 3) Good song. 2) I didn't see Lou's telethon this year, but maybe it's later. 1) Images of John Travolta burning up the dance floor in my head.......

This was during my roller rink days too! I absolutely loved going there when I was little. I picked up a few of George's 70's albums a few years back, and they're really good. His guitar work is amazing. I never knew what that line in 'I'd Really Love to See You Tonight' was until very recently. I always thought it was "I'm not talkin' about the limit"!
