I remember a radio-show segment where Rupert admitted the song had some basis in real life--he did find a pack of menthol cigarettes by the window, "I don't smoke menthols, and(former girlfriend)doesn't smoke." I always thought this song was superior to the Pina Colada song.

Neat! I had no idea there was video footage for this tune. I remember this well! I'm glad the fine people at Rhino included this on their "'Have a Nice Day - Super Hits Of The 70's" CD series. I love those discs!

That Beautiful Sunday footage is cool - like Ken, I had no idea it had ever been filmed. I first heard it on a K-Tel album - I Believe in Music - and then on CD with the Rhino series.

My cousin had a 45 of this song, that came from the back of a cereal box. We used to play it when we were kids.
