I'm not sure if I've done this one before or not. I've been listening to this track alot lately, and I remember hearing it when it was current. It reached #5 on the billboard charts in 1975. Click here to hear a sample (track #4) www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1117242

It was basically the old bumper sticker "Don't come a-knockin', if this van's a-rockin' " set to music. ;D

Is Ken going Lynn on us? ? (quote from Ed) It was basically the old bumper sticker "Don't come a-knockin', if this van's a-rockin' " set to music. ;D I don't know...somehow I think if someone really DID set that saying to music, it would come out more uptempo than this song.

As I recall, Mr. Johns died about a year ago.

Hi Ken, I remember this well, from the summer of '75. At the time I was too young to understand all the implications of the lyrics, but I've always liked it. I first owned it on a K-Tel compilation LP (Blockbuster, I think, or maybe Music Express), and later on the Have A Nice Day CD.

That saying was put to music- "If this Trailer's Rockin Don't Come Knockin", by Billy Joe Shaver.

And Stevie Ray Vaughan had a song with the line "the house is rockin, don't bother knockin".
But that was an invitation TO come in!

My aunt had this one on a Time Life 70's CD, along with "Afternoon Delight" and similar songs. I called it her "Sleepy CD".
