Phoebe had two songs on the billboard top 40 charts, and this was the first back in 1975, it reached #5 that year. I have the song on the Canadian version of K-tel's Music Express album and I remember my oldest brother buying her self titled album at the time. Here is a link to an audio sample - track #4 - www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1127543

I remember it well, Ken, and saw her perform it on TV shows more than once. Kinda a hippy/folksy sound, and she fit the description as well, if I remember correctly.

Sure do, Ken. Great song - I've always loved the dreamy, unusual chord changes, and Phoebe's voice is superb. I've heard a few other tracks from her self-titled album, and they're very good as well.

*grin* That's a song I hated at first. But over the years, it grew on me. I like it now!

I was given her Greatest Hits CD but never got around to listening to it. I'll have to check it out when I get my CD's back at the end of the month! (Long story, a friend moved them for me from California)

Me too. I hear it every once in awhile on Music Choice's 70s channel.
A sad postscript: I read once that she more or less gave up music after giving birth to a severely disabled daughter, who required all of her attention. Edited to add: I just Wiki'd Phoebe, and it said that unfortunately, her daughter Valerie passed away last year at 31. It confirmed that Phoebe's decision to care for her at home(rather than institutionalize her)basically ended her musical career.

I think a lot of us on The Click either have our own infirmities or care for some one who has them. We all know the difficulties and can empathize with Phoebe and her daughter.
