Carole for sure. I can't even begin to think who would be (a distant) second. Kiss, maybe?

Jan & Dean
Jan was a HUGE influence on Brian and a very underrated producer/arranger!

Second vote for Jan & Dean. Even listed in a Whitburn book as a "highly influential surf/rock" duo. I thought at least Jan's untimely death woulda given bigger edge for 2005 inclusion.
King's songwriting career WAY overpowers her singing career that much, that I'd even rank KISS ahead of her.
Still waiting for, like, ALL my top 10 wanna be Rock Hall choices in the polls...

Don't worry Dave-this has several days left and I am more than sure all of your top 10's will be in here! I'm just trying to make unique groupings-these are not being done in any order or preference at all. I think you should tell us as each of your top 10 choices are on here though!

I went with Carole, for a lot of reasons, but mainly because of the popularity, strength and success of "Tapestry". An amazing feat for a female singer-songwriter at the time, no?
