Hi Gang ! What are your thoughts on the 1975 movie adaptation of The Who's classic LP from '69. My brother won the album from one of our local top 40 stations here back then.
I wasn't quite sure what I thought of the soundtrack (even though they are some fantastic musicians on the LP)but I did like Elton's version of Pinball Wizard and Clapton's version of Eyesight to The Blind and a couple of others , but The Who's version of course is far superior.
The movie sure assaults the senses , to me it's really in your face . The first time I saw it was on TV in the late 70's loved Elton , and who can forget Ann Margret rolling around in that bean / champagne mixture - what exactly was that anyway? ? LOL. But Tina Turner really freaked me out oh man! I've seen the movie a few more times since then.
and you??

Actually, I have never seen this movie! I've seen bits and pieces, I remember seeing Clapton and Elton. I probably should take the time and rent it. Especially with so many rock legends together. Much like The Last Waltz, which again, I have not seen all the way through! Like your "and you?" ending line though!

Hello Ken Frank,
I remember seeing Tommy in the theaters when I was about 6 years old with my babysitter. It's hard to believe it was PG. I remember being freaked out and a little scared. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said it's very "in your face."
Tina Turner as the Acid Queen, Paul Nichols and Cousin Kevin, Ann Margaret rolling around in baked beans...all weird and disturbing. I liked Elton John as the Pinball Wizard. Those stilts and the shoes he was wearing!
Ken Russell is an interesting director, but I often wonder what the movie would have been like if Stanely Kubrick had done it...

I forgot about Cousin Kevin - that's right that was disturbing. I often wondered if Roger Daltry was injured during filming the way he was dragged around in some of the scenes. I didn't realize it was Rated PG Wow!
