I don't think this subject has been posted yet. There was a time when picture discs were pretty popular--Vinyl albums with pictures or illustrations on the record itself. Do any of you own any picture discs? I have acquired several thru the years, including "Parallel Lines" by Blondie, "Living in the USA" by Linda Ronstadt, "Blondes Have More Fun" by Rod Stewart, and "Greatest Hits" by Barry Manilow. I also have one of Heart, Boston, and probably a few more that I can't think of at the moment. LOL! I also have a few albums on colored vinyl. I believe I have Neil Young's "Harvest" on yellow vinyl, and Grand Funk's "We're an American Band" on gold vinyl. I also have a gold colored copy of "Pieces of Eight" by Styx. And "Moody Blue" by Elvis is, what else? Blue. Some 45's I've collected are Tom Petty's "Change of Heart", which is colored red, and Prince's "Purple Rain", which is, of course, purple. I may have more, but that's enough for now. Anyone else?

You're right, it hasn't been done here yet, although I remember the topic at YL. Good one though, glad to see a different topic here!
Ok, picture discs, I only have one. Monkee Business, which was put out by Rhino in the 80s when they were capitalizing on Monkeemania. It is one of my prized possessions. So glad I bought it back then. They sort of publizied it as the third installment of a greatest hits after Arista's first two. This was mostly odds and ends, hard to find stuff, and alternate versions.
I can't be too sure, but I think Bekki may have had a Strawberry Shortcake picture disc when she was a kid! LOL!
Another one of my prized possessions is my 45 of John Lennon's Happy X-mas on green vinyl. Too cool. I also picked up the We're an American Band 45 at a neighbor's garage sale on gold vinyl. My dad has Sweet Talkin' Woman with Fire on High on purple vinyl. I remember seeing the Prince one you mentioned Kath, and Madonna's True Blue.
Good topic!!

That Monkee Business Disc sounds really cool! I don't think I've ever seen one of those. LOLing at the Strawberry Shortcake disc. I just saw one of those not too long ago at a garage sale. I shoulda bought it. I could have sent it to Bekki and surprised her with it. I remember Madonna's True Blue now that you've mentioned it. I don't think I ever had it, though.

I have at least two colored (yellow) 45s by Grand Funk.
In the picture disc category, I have three 78 rpm (10 inch) records (singles) that belonged to my dad, that have pictures on them interpreting the subject of the song. I believe they are from the 40s.

I tried to find a good picture of it, but the best ones I found won't let me grab them, so here is a link: www.esoteric-solutions.co.uk/monkees/detailpages/uslpdetails/uslpm701.htmThat's the only Picture Disc I own. I bought a Talking Heads one for a friend, but that doesn't count because I didn't keep it. I own an old Spike Jones 45 on clear yellow vinyl. I have a little boxed set of Frankie Valli 45's on clear red vinyl, and a small boxed set of Monkees 45's on clear blue vinyl. A limited number of the Monkees "Pool It" album were released on clear turoquoise vinyl. My cassette is clear turquoise plastic.

I have 3 Tank shaped KISS picture discs from 1983. There is a place not too far from me called Things From England and I used to get all my imports there. I paid 11 bucks a piece for them and the last time I saw someone selling one they were asking $75.
As for colored vinyl the only thing I have is a Vinnie Vincent Invasion pink 45 for the song Boyz R Gonna Rock I believe.

I have a Sun Records greatest hits compilation that is essentially the Sun rooster and the band of music that circled the label--Rhino released it in the 80's...
I also have a "Sgt. Pepper" picture disc, that is almost surely a bootleg--but it has great sound (like SOUND is what matters with picture discs!)...
I have a few ELO singles that were released on colored viny...

I have several promos on colored vinyl, the one I can think of off the top of my head is a 45 of "Jingle Bell Rock" by Hall & Oates. It's pretty cool in that one side is a solo by Darryl and the other side is a solo by John. You know which one got radio play, lol. I also have the Grand Funk on gold/yellow vinyl and a few Diana Ross white label 45's on red vinyl. I know there's more, but I don't have my 45's with me right now...

i don't have many picture disc LPs, but they were fun items. i have one from TINA TURNER, ROD STEWART, MOLLY HATCHET's FLIRTIN' WITH DISASTER, BOSTON's debut album, BLONDIE's PARALELL LINES, and a couple more. picture discs looked cool, but i seem to recall their audio quality/fidelty being less "pristine" than regular releases. which is why, years ago, i made a decent wall clock out of the BOSTON one...
as for colored vinyl, probably the most unusual LP i have is a bright blue promo-only radio concert disc from canadian rockers PRISM.
