Way bad day at work today. If I'm going down, I'm dragging everyone with me!

Everyone has that song they like to listen to when they're good and depressed. Today was one of those days. And, in the middle of this horrible day, my song comes on Ultimate80s.com - timing couldn't have been better.

Most of my regulars here probably don't know this one, but as I've said before, part of being here is being exposed to different stuff. This song can be heard on the movies "The Wedding Singer" and "The Craft". It's a good one to be good and depressed with!

My Opinion In A Nutshell: I've never had a problem with shyness, but I tend to take things personally. That's why my job as a debt collector never went well.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems at work, Railyn - I know that can be frustrating. Right now I'm not in a terrific mood myself, so this is a good choice!

I'd never heard this before, but there are some great lyrics here. This was written by someone who's definitely experienced some pain in their life. "See I've already waited too long" is the line that stands out for me.

Everytime I want to be sad, crabby, b*tchy, or similar this one and several others come out. Work is slowly getting better, but I made a mistake today. At least they ended up with something larger than they needed and they just cut it down, but it didn't help. I still think it may not have been my mistake, but someone pulled out the order from the drawer and didn't refile it in the proper place, so I can't check.

Hopefully the Kharma will have shifted by the end of the week to some other poor schlub.

I know this song well! Morrissey's lyrics are always regarded as depressing, and controversial. Many people don't see the humor in a lot of them (he does tend to make fun of himself at times), and of course, his sexual prefference has always been disputed, though he has admitted asexuality and celibacy.

This song spoke to the ninteen year-old awkward, shy kid who could not get a date or a girlfriend/boyfriend. The inability to find love is a recurring theme in his lyrics, and shyness is another.

I happened to catch it one day on the local college station when my ex and I were going through the usual crap (and looking back on it now, I wonder about HIS sexual preference - at 16 I didn't see the signs....but anyway) and it just grabbed me. To this day, it's one of my depressed songs. Unfortunately, this group wasn't really big around here, and I'm not familiar with any other songs of theirs. I've been meaning to look into them futher.

If there is any band worth checking out, it's them!
They are one of the few bands that I can put on any album by (with the exception of their final album "Strangeways Here We Come") and LOVE EVERY SONG on it!

I recommend starting with "The Queen Is Dead", one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time, and possibly my favorite album of the 80's. I can't praise this album enough. MASTERPIECE!
