Sorry for no post yesterday, but I have a wicked bad sinus infection, and went to bed at 8. And can you tell I just got a new emoticon tool? It's pretty cool - I'm on a 14 day trial, and it's only $10 one time fee for lifetime usage - I think I'm gonna buy it!

Anyway, Welcome To Weird Al Wednesday!

I had to pick this one - the original artist is giving a concert at the Bloomsburg Fair at the end of September. I can't stand him. The one girl I work with is going. She keeps going on about how she has 2nd row seats - EEWWW! I hate this song massively, and cheered when this came out:

My Opinion In A Nutshell: This actually became a hit on a lot of country stations, apparently when Achy Breaky Fever lost it's luster.

Favorite Line: "But Mr. DJ please, I'm beggin' on my knees, I just can't take no more of Billy Ray"

These are some of the most awesome song lyrics I've read in a long time! I totally feel the song! I remember Achy Breaky Fever, as you called it, and I also remember getting totally burnt out on Achy Breaky Heart. I was so sick of that song it made me scream every single time it was on the radio! Oh my gosh. You don't even know the hatred I have for Billy Ray Cyrus at this point in my life because of that stupid song! All I can say is thank God for Weird Al!

Favorite Line: How can I choose? The entire song is so great and expresses my sentiments perfectly!

A former co-worker of mine got married during the whole Achy Breaky Phenomenon, and Billy Ray was at the fair that year too (in fact, he's there a lot - he's gonna become like Alabama and be there every year) and she actually had relatives ditch her wedding for that man! AH! No Punishment would be severe enough! Well maybe.......

I can relate to this song a lot. I wasn't even listening to much country at the time 'Achy Breaky' was popular, but what I heard of it grew old fast. Billy Ray was at the county fair here about 4 or 5 years ago, I remember, and apparently still drew pretty big crowds.

My favorite line is "I'd rather have a pitchfork in my brain".

I think he's doing well on the county fair circuit - cheap tickets, and people who are willing to go for a quasi-celebrity.

One of Al's best parodies (although, I'd take the reference to the Bee Gees out). The summer the Cyrus tune was so big, we were taking a road trip down South, taking our son to Space Camp (Huntsville, AL) and drove through Kentucky and Tennessee on the way. All we kept hearing was that Achy Breaky cr@p. Memories like that make me appreciate Weird Al even more.

I never understood why it took off on the pop charts. You just couldn't get away from it.

I won't laugh - you've never seen the "town" where I grew up - there's a general store, a rock quarry/road paving operation and a fire hall. That's it. They finally got a stop light 2 years ago, and it's actually out on the highway for the trucks leaving the quarry.
