Sorry I'm late. Had a WAY bad day at work. Long story short, I way screwed up a $3000 order, so I was on my best behavior.....
Anyway, since I've been bummed, I had to cheer myself up. I came home and popped this cd in and took myself back to a time when I didn't have to worry about such things. Plus this singer is way sexy. He was the first person I can remember looking at in terms of sex appeal, rather than just cuteness. So this one isn't too intellectual, but more just a fun, frivilous song from a dead-sexy man (after all, it is T-HERS-Day - for the ladies):
STAND AND DELIVER
By Adam Ant
Album: Prince Charming
Author: A. Ant/M. Pirroni
I'm the dandy highwayman who you're too scared to mention
I spend my cash on looking flash and grabbing your attention
The devil take your stereo and your record collection
The way you look you'll qualify for next year's old age pension
Stand and Deliver your money or your life
Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife
I'm the dandy highwayman so sick of easy fashion
The clumsy boots, peek-a-boo roots that people think so dashing
So what's the point of robbery when nothing is worth taking ?
It's kind of tough to tell a scruff the big mistake he's making
Stand and Deliver your money or your life
Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife
And even though you fool your soul
Your conscience will be mine
All mine
We're the dandy highwayman so tired of excuses
Of deep meaning philosophies where only showbiz loses
We're the dandy highwayman and here's our invitation
"Throw your safety overboard and join our insect nation"
Stand and Deliver your money or your life
Try and use a mirror no bullet or a knife
And even though you fool your soul
Your conscience will be mine
All mine
Da diddley qua qua da diddley qua qua
Da diddley qua qua da diddley qua qua
Stand and Deliver your money or your life
Stand and Deliver your money or your life
My Opinion In A Nutshell: Although it won't win any awards for deep lyrics, it's a fun song. The "Ant Revolution" was all about going in a different direction. It was a lot of fun. I think it's a stab at the scruffy look of the 70's, and looking toward the high fashion early 80's New Romantic movement.
Favorite Line: "I'm the dandy highwayman so sick of easy fashion

It's kind of tough to tell a scruff the big mistake he's making" (I know, it's a stanza, but it's hard to break-up).
He just has that quality I can't put my finger on.......
And if you don't know the song, give it a listen - it's quite good:
