Here's a classic. One of my favorites. I first heard it as a kid, and have enjoyed it on the album, and later the cd. My parents were very big fans of the artist, as am I. This song just never goes out of style.
KING TUT By: Steve Martin Album: A Wild And Crazy Guy Author: S Martin? (not 100% sure)
King Tut (King Tut) Now when he was a young man He never thought he'd see People stand in line to see the boy king
(King Tut) How'd you get so funky? (funky Tut) Did you do the monkey? Born in Arizona Moved to Babylonia (king Tut)
(king Tut) Now, if I'd known they'd line up just to see him I'd trade in all my money And bought me a museum. (king Tut)
Buried with a donkey (funky Tut) He's my favorite honkey! Born in Arizona Moved to Babylonia (king Tut)
Dancin' by the Nile, (Disco Tut) The ladies love his style, (boss Tut) Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut) He ate a crocodile
He gave his life for tourism Golden idol! He's an Egyptian They're sellin' you
Now, when I die now don't think I'm a nut don't want no fancy funeral Just one like ole king Tut (king Tut)
He coulda won a Grammy Buried in his Jammies Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia He was born in Arizona, got a condo made of stone-a King Tut!
My Opinion In A Nutshell: Like I said, it's a classic. Can't explain the appeal, I just love it.
Favorite Line: "Dancin' by the Nile, (Disco Tut) The ladies love his style, (boss Tut) Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut) He ate a crocodile

Hee-hee! Love it, love it, love it! My mom used to have "A Wild And Crazy Guy" on vinyl, along with "Let's Get Small," and "Comedy Is Not Pretty." I really miss Steve's stand-up days.

Love this one, Railyn!! I have an album with this song, Cat Handcuffs and other Steve Martin classics. Is it "Wild and Crazy Guy"? My all time favorite Steve Martin joke is on that album, and decorum prohibits me from repeating it here, but it's the one where he scolds the audience for thinking dirty thought when he was just talking about her cat, and how he's disgusted and horrified, and that cat was the best......(and I ain't going any further) but the first time I heard that I wasn't expecting it, and it hit me like a ton of bricks and I still roll every time I hear that.

I got them on cd a few years back so I could listen to them easier (I don't use the turntable often because parts are hard to get for it). I love his bit about teaching kids to speak wrong, and on the first day of school they ask "may I mambo dogface to the banana patch?". Steve's a funny guy.

Another bit I always liked was when Steve told us his real name... it's "B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b!" (twiddling his lips) He had a sister named "Hyuh-hyuh-hyuh-hyuh-hyuh!" When his mother called them downstairs for dinner, she'd say "B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b, Hyuh-hyuh-hyuh-hyuh-hyuh, B-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b!"

Great classic! Always loved the Arizona/Babylonia thing because it makes absolutely no sense -- but it rhymes!
