But when the taxman comes to the door, Lord the house look like a rummage sale--Fortunate Son, CCR
I'm a faithful follower of Brother John Birch and I belong to the Antioch Baptist Church and I ain't even got a garage! You can call home and ask my wife!--Uneasy Rider, Charlie Daniels Band
(Runner-up: He said "Now you just stay right where you're at," and I didn't bother to tell the durn fool that I sure as hell didn't have anyplace else to go.)

Good topic, Smitty! That's why I started the lyrics posts in the first place, but I ran out of interesting songs for daily posts.
I'll have to think about this one and get back to it.
PS: Uneasy Rider is one of my husband's favorites. Ever hear Uneasy Rider '88?

Hi Smitty!
GREAT topic!! Surprised no one has done it before!
I love it when our newer members (like Tammy, Nomi, Dadoodaidy) or returning members (like smitty) come up with good topics to liven up the boards!
I really want to take time and come up with some good ones, but some of my favorite lines are in Low Spark of High Heeled Boys:
"If you had just a minute to breath and they granted you one final wish, would you ask for something like another chance."
"If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return, would you do the same for me as I would for you."

Great post!
Jim Croce's Time in A Bottle - "There never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them."
Pink Floyd's Time - "And then one day you find ten years have got behind you."
The Beatles' In My Life - "There are places I remember / all my life, though some have changed / Some forever, not for better / Some have gone and some remain."

Pink Floyd's Time - "And then one day you find ten years have got behind you." Time has another lyric I love- "And you run and run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking, racing around to come up behind you again, the sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death."

Yes, that's a great one as well. I can really relate to that song, especially as I've gotten older.

PS: Uneasy Rider is one of my husband's favorites. Ever hear Uneasy Rider '88? Yes I have--I found a CDB greatest-hits CD that was "value-priced" at Wal-Mart. It's quite interesting, to say the least! ;D P.S. I thought of another one: John Fogerty's version of "Bad Moon Rising(from his album Premonition) in which he does sing "There's a bathroom on the right."

Thought of another great one from Floyd-
Lost For Words
"So I opened the door to my enemies, I asked could we wipe the slate clean, and they tell me to please go f*ck myself, you know sometimes you just can't win."

A few more:
Now it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table/But you only want the ones that you can't get--Desperado, the Eagles
You made the wine, now you drink the cup--Evil Woman, ELO
Tryin' my best to set the highway on fire/But my bicycle won't go no faster--Tarkio Road, Brewer and Shipley (Runner-up, same song: Tarkio Road is a mother. I'm assuming that's half a word. ;D)

I _LOVE_ "Tarkio Road"! That's probably my favorite song on the "Have a Nice Day Vol. 6" compilation (even though it doesn't seem to be that popular with many people here on the Click--that's ok, though!).

Actually, I remember buying B&S's album Tarkio(and the Five Man Electical Band album with "Signs") as part of a box lot at a yard sale many moons ago--I'm pretty sure I still have it.
