I love this song. It may be that I'm strange, but I find it very relaxing, creepy lyrics and all.

This is a really good song. I had never heard it before. Remember - music ceased to exist long before it's 1996-7 date. I guess I need to look at later music at least in a selective way. Anyway, this will go in my Late 90s CD.

I guess there is some worthwhile music from the late '90s -- well, a little bit anyway. BTW, I kinda did a doubletake when you called me "Edski". When I was living in Nova Scotia, Canada back in '73-'75, I was friendly with this one prof in my department, who was also American. For reasons too long to tell here (but what will make an interesting story - with musical significance - at another time) he used to call me Edski and I'd call him Peteski. But I hadn't thought of that - or him - in years.

That's an early '90s song, though isn't it? The only thing I knew by Sixpence, was There She Goes. I know Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House, but didn't know that Sixpence covered it. I never heard the Nstalie Merchant song before either. I like it, although the video gives me a headache. ;D

The lyrics are creepy, but it's a very good tune. I'm familiar with Shawn Colvin by name, but this is the first time, I've heard any of her music. Alan, about "Black Velvet" it was released in 1989. Where does the time go?

Here's a creepy lyric for ya: I always loved the song, "Into the Night" by Benny Mardones. It was always a favorite of mine. Then, several years ago, someone on Yesterdayland pointed out the opening line: "She's just sixteen years old. Leave her alone, they say". So, basically, the whole song is about some older man lusting after a 16 year old girl. Ick. I never even realized (or was in denial about) the subject matter of the song, since I loved it so much. Now I'm just totally disapointed in the lyrics. LOL!
