Here is a Badfinger story where guitarist Joey Molland talks about playing with John Lennon on the Imagine recording sessions.
The band all lived together in a house in the Golders Green section of London. One day they recieved a phone call asking if a couple of them would like to come down and help out on some recordings John was doing . Since Joey and bassist Tom Evans were the only two at the house at the time they said yes ,very quickly!
Both were very excited since John was an Idol . So a car was sent for them they grabbed their acoustic guitars and off they went.
When they arrived at John's estate - Joey said they were both in a daze looking at all his stuff. His jukebox with all the great rock 45's. Joey says he (John) had a room full of Dr. Pepper - "He liked Dr. Pepper I suppose."
Other musicians were there - Nicky Hopkins , Alan White, Klaus Voorman etc.
Finally John walks in "Hello Everybody" and they all made their way into the little studio at the back of the house.
Joey said John chatted with him and Tommy and then John put on the headphones and started to sing Jealous Guy " I was flabergasted literally astounded " "John sitting and singing right across from me"
They learned it very quickly and then recorded it. The next and last song they did was I Don't Want to be a Soldier Mama. "We Just Started to play because we didn't want anybody to kick us out " LOL
After they finished Joey said that John chatted with them a bit more asking how things were going then replied. "Well you can stay or you can f*ck off now if you'd like" - but it wasn't like "f*ck off!" he wasn't being rude he was just like it's up to you. So they stayed watched TV and talked. "It was one of the most exciting times in me life" Joey said " And John was nice enough to put both our photos and a thank you on the inner sleeve of the album."
