1956
Elvis opens a two-week engagement in Las Vegas in front of a jaded audience. In 1959 Elvis will recall, "It was awful...I wasn't getting across to the audience."
At the same time he falls in love with Las Vegas. He catches a number of shows, including that of Freddie Bell and the Bellboys, whose performance of Hound Dog impresses him.
Ok H2, let's hear it about his Vegas years.

Ok H2, let's hear it about his Vegas years. Oh... sorry Adam, I couldn't answer your post. My mouth was full. I was eating a peanut butter and nanner sandwich on fried bread. Seriously, I'm not surprised about Elvis not connecting with the Vegas crowd in '56. He wasn't a Vegas act in '56. The people who adored him in '56 wouldn't even be allowed within the city limits.
