I haven't done this in awhile. For one, I kept forgetting. But it also seemed like it wasn't read much, which is fine.
So from now on, I will only post when there is something of great interest.
1956
In his second appearance on The Milton Berle Show, Berle presents Elvis with a Billboard award for reaching number one on retail, disc jockey and jukebox charts on both the pop and country-and-western charts with "Heartbreak Hotel", as Elvis performs both his new singles, "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" and a worked-up version of "Hound Dog", complete with all the bumps and grinds of a stripper to the exaggerated half-time ending he has perfeted. Almost overnight, newpapers across the country are filled with outraged reaction to Elvis' "obscene performance".
