September 3, 1961 - The Beach Boys spent this weekend in 1961 starting their glorious music careers by disobeying their parents! Mom and Dad left town for the weekend and left Brian, Carl and Dennis some money to buy groceries while they were away. Instead, "the boys of summer" used the money to rent guitars, drums, amps and a tape recorder. By the end of the weekend, they had written the lyrics and words and made a demo tape of what would become their first record, Surfin’, which became a hit in Southern California.

Is that "asshole"? I don't think "asshole" is a strong enough word to describe Murray Wilson! LOL
