September 14, 1741 - Composer George Handel completed his masterpiece, The Messiah, best known for "The Hallelujah Chorus." Handel worked day and night for 24 days writing the music for The Messiah because he wanted it completed for an orphans' charity concert. He stayed alone in his room for those 24 days, drinking only coffee. And when he finished, a servant found him in tears. Handel thought he had seen God and heaven as he wrote The Messiah. 225 years later, Beach Boy Brian Wilson described the creative process of writing another piece of music the same way. And his brother Carl, who sang lead on the song said he felt like he was somehow connected with heaven when the Beach Boys recorded "God Only Knows".

Interesting connection!
In the short film that opened his 1999 solo tour, Brian was asked "Where does your music come from?" He replied "From God."
