September 17, 1964 - This was the week in 1964 we saw the very first Shindig TV show. The show premiered on ABC. Shindig was the first primetime weekly network music program in the ‘60s featuring rock 'n roll artists. On that first show, Jimmy O’Neill and The Shindig Dancers featured Sam Cooke, The Everly Brothers and a couple of guys from southern California, who would become regulars on the show, The Righteous Brothers.
