October 15, 1971 - Rick Nelson was booed off the stage during a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. The crowd came to hear Nelson sing his hits from the 50's and 60's, but he was singing new material with The Stone Canyon Band. Nelson was so disgusted with the crowd’s reaction that he wrote a song to answer those critics. A year later in 1972, the song became his first hit in over 8 years, Garden Party.
