1955
In a Cleveland show hosted once again by Bill Randle, this show climaxed, according to Randle's later recollection, when Elvis broke the strings on his guitar and then smashed the guitar on the floor. "It was mass hysteria" recoutned the DJ. "We needed police to get him out of the hall."
Move over Pete Townshend & Jimi Hendrix-Elvis did it first!!

Well, did he meditate with the Maharishi first? Did he get married on the Johnny Carson Show first? ;D

Cool! You go Elvis!
For some reason, this made me think of when I was watching Fleetwood Mac yesterday. I can't imagine Lindsey ever smashing a guitar. I wonder if he did...

Did Elvis smash the guitar BECAUSE he broke the strings and was angry - as opposed to Hendrix who did it for effect. I have read that Elvis had a temper.

Wow! He had some really nice guitar's too from the different pics I've seen. He did have quite a temper. Remember the story about him shooting at TV sets?
