Today in music history:

1956 - Little Richard recorded "Long Tall Sally".

1958 - The "Annette" serial began on ABC-TV's "Mickey Mouse Club."

1968 - The Beatles turned all of their business affairs over to the newly formed Apple record company.

1971 - Carole King's "Tapestry" was released.

1978 - Van Halen's debut album was released.

1987 - Expose's debut album "Exposure" was released.

1993 - Michael Jackson granted his first interview in 15 years to Oprah Winfrey. In the interview, Jackson claimed that he has a disorder that destroys the pigmentation of the skin and that he had had very little plastic surgery.

1999 - It was announced that BPI Communications was suspending publication of its Musician magazine after 21 years.

Wait-Van Halen signed with Warner Brothers on the second and 8 days later their album was out?? I'm assuming they knew which songs would make up their album and recorded it quickly!

1958 - Sad to say, I remember the series well; saw it when it was originally aired. I was in HS at the time, and I remember a bunch of us 14 year-old BOYS standing around discussing the show and what we thought had REALLY happened to the necklace that Annette was accused of stealing.

1971 - I remember at one time, this was being called the top selling album of all time. I think it held this title for quite a while. I wonder where it ranks today.

1993 - But what he meant was that he had a disorder that destroys the "decency" cells in the brain, and he had had sex with very little boys.
