I noticed when an artist covers a song, the classic rock stations will pick up playing the original.
Cases in point:
I had never heard Landslide before like 6 or 7 years ago. I called the radio station and asked why they started playing it all of the sudden. Well, at the time, the Smashing Pumpkins had just covered it!
Now, Sheryl Crow has covered First Cut is the Deepest, and today, for the first time on the Timeless Rock station, I heard Rod's version! (Wish they'd play the original and best by Cat!)
Do your stations do that, and if so, any examples?

Good topic, Adam!
I remember the same thing happened here with Landslide around that time. I had never heard it on the radio prior to that, but there for a while it was getting quite a bit of play.
I think the oldies station began playing Come and Get Your Love more after Real McCoy's remake in '95.

I think I heard a pickup of the REAL Venus too!

A recent example would be Jessica Simpson with Take My Breath Away. Thankfully, I've been hearing Berlin's version also.
And whenever the Dixie Chicks did Landslide, I was hearing the Mac's version on the local top 40 station.

Great subject! When "Shrek" came out with the remake of the Monkees song "I'm A Believer" our local oldies station started playing the original a lot more often. To be honest,I really like the remake.
