Last night, I listened to Discovery by ELO (on vinyl). It's been quite awhile since I've listened to it.

I've been listening to Van Morrison's "Still on Top" CD a lot lately (greatest hits CD that came out in 2007). I especially love "Tore Down a la Rimbaud". Anyone else ever heard that song? It came out in 1985 (oh, geez, I'm turning into Lynn--heaven forbid ), but I'd never heard it until I got this CD.

I've been listening to 60's music this week. Here are some of the songs that I'm obsessing over lately: The Human Beinz "Nobody But Me" (Isley Brothers cover) Vanilla Fudge "You Keep Me Hangin' On" (Supremes cover) Soul Survivors "Expressway To Your Heart" The Easybeats "Friday On My Mind" The Box Tops "The Letter" Gary Puckett and The Union Gap "Young Girl" Sugarloaf "Green Eyed Lady" (though I think this song was 1971, but oh well lol) Five Man Electrical Band "Signs" (I think this one was 1970, so also not 60's but close enough and still very good lol!) This is stuff my mom listened to when she was young (she graduated high school in 1972) and she heard me listening to this stuff and she was impressed, nostalgic, and started to dance hehe.

Sugarloaf "Green Eyed Lady" (though I think this song was 1971, but oh well lol) Five Man Electrical Band "Signs" (I think this one was 1970, so also not 60's but close enough and still very good lol!) Opposite years, actually, Sugarloaf was '70 and FMEB was '71. Both great songs and I'm glad that you like them! The full length album version of "Green-Eyed Lady" RULES!!

Iron Maiden "Brave New World", and 80's Iron Maiden Motorhead "1916" Captain Beyond King's X-"Dogman" Trouble-"Run To The Light" and s/t Pentagram-Relentless (I just found out about this band. They were formed in 1970, but didn't release an album until 1985. Sounds a lot like Sabbath)

I've been on a Steely Dan kick for the past couple of days, especially tracks from The Royal Scam and Pretzel Logic.

Earlier tonight I pulled out my CD copy of Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits. I can't remember the last time I listened to it. Great stuff!

Geffen/Universal Music has just released an updated version of "Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits". I just purchased the collection which includes all the well-known Petty top 40 hits and album cuts. Even his duet with Stevie Nicks "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" is included. But with the CD clocking in at 67 min., I felt the label could had put two or possibly three more songs that were hits for Tom in the 80's. Here's what I felt could have been added: "Change of Heart" "Needles & Pins" a live remake of the Searchers tune he performed with Stevie Nicks (this wasn't even included on Petty's 2 CD anthology from the mid 90's!) "Jammin' Me"

Our local library has the 6 disc "Playback" set. Change of Heart & Jammin' Me are both on Disc 2. But Needles & Pins isn't on any of the six discs. You'd think with six to work with, they'd find room. Oh well.

My boyfriend broke up with me on Thursday night, so since then I've been listening to really sad songs and songs of "ours" that are making me cry. It might seem like I'm torturing myself lol, but I'll be ok soon.
"Sorry" by Buckcherry "Moonlight Desires" by Gowan "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis "I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis "Apologize" by One Republic/Timbaland "Lovers & Liars" by Matchbook Romance "Strange Animal" by Gowan "Stay Young" by Strata

But I agree, playing sad music actually seems to help ease the pain sometimes.

I have been there myself. Have you considered buying some CD from Godsmack! They're a nu-metal band from Boston. From their first self-titled CD is their song "Whatever!" It's a very angry song, but you may find it theraputic. Hope your week goes better.
