Ok, so I'm pretty much feeling better about the breakup. Not only did the ex-bf and I have a long talk tonight, but we're best friends and thats not going to change. I feel comfortable with it actually. Last night I listened to Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" on repeat for about 4 hours (seriously) and I cried all night so much that my parents thought I was going to have an asthma attack BUT... I feel SO much better tonight. Tonight's playlist includes more happy songs, with a few lovey-sad songs mixed in. Bread "Everything I Own" 10, 000 Maniacs "Because The Night" Patti Smith "Because The Night" Patti Smith "Gloria" Madness "One Step Beyond" The Specials "Ghost Town" The Specials "Little B!tch" The Specials "Gangsters" B-52's "Rock Lobster" and lots of others I found very early footage of on youtube (amazing find! Here's a link to one of the vids I found of a 1978 show they did at a Cafe youtube.com/watch?v=DnU3WoQZHJE&feature=related)Also, I discovered a group called The Barracudas and their song "Summer Fun" from 1980. Its my new favourite song! Its SO MUCH FUN! It totally changed my mood from depressed to happy. I really needed it. Here's the clip of if I found on youtube: youtube.com/watch?v=tSKLJNXZv48&feature=relatedMan, I wish I was around back then...I'd have SO much fun!

Right now, I'm listening to Stevie Wonder's performance of "Superstition" from Sesame Street, courtesy of YouTube...I actually watched that episode as a child--a totally Biblical experience...
Other than that, my wife found the Phil Spector "Back to Mono" set--basically the greatest non-British music of the 1960's, and got it for me for Father's Day. It is four CD's, including his Christmas Philles album It is insane that Spector allowed it to be deleted from ABKCO's catalogue--but then again, sanity has never been a strong point of ol' Phil...

My playlist lately is 60's garage music. Right now I'm really into the Human Beinz and The Thirteenth Floor Elevators and The Amboy Dukes. I loooove this stuff. I've been dancing all week!
I'm also listening to some music I put on a playlist I called "Sweaty Indie Dance Party", its all kinds of "indie" dance-electronica music. And its not old, for once lol.

A few albums I've listened to lately:
Gino Vannelli's A Pauper in Paradise (which was kinda disappointing, I must admit - too much orchestral music, and not as jazz oriented as Brother to Brother and some of his other albums)
Badfinger's No Dice (always great to hear this one)
Michael Franks' One Bad Habit (love Michael's stuff; this isn't his best album, but still very good)
The Monkees' Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones LTD (listened to this twice yesterday, and have it playing again as I type. I've always said Headquarters was my favorite Monkees album, but I think this may have edged it out).

Here are a few recent library picks: Kid A - Radiohead. I recently bought some of their songs from itunes. Crush - Bon Jovi To The Teeth - Ani DiFranco Living In The Material World - George Harrison All Things Must Pass (Remastered) - George Harrison. I was preparing dinner Tuesday night and was "blown away" by the first disc. I always knew the hits, but this was the first time hearing the CD! I am looking forward to hearing disc two! I also recommend Bruce Springsteen's Magic Tour Highlights, which is available only on itunes. I purchased a used copy of the Who's "Endless Wire". A strong effort considering that Roger and Pete are the only surviving members. Quite an eclectic list!
