This was a minor hit (#36 in 1988) for The Kane Gang. I remember hearing it on KKNU back in the day and bought the LP at a charity shop years ago. I later found the CD at another charity shop for $2, and I've never seen the CD anywhere else. Here's the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lK5y91US4Zk

I've got that CD too! I got it for about $3 at a used record store a few years ago. It's a good CD. My favorite song on it is "Take Me to the World", but I've always liked "Motortown" too.

Actually, I love that song but it's one that I didn't know who did it or what it was called. It didn't stick around long on the radio.

What's funny is when I bought the LP I wasn't sure if it was the song I was thinking of or not. Since it was a dollar I took a chance. I liked the whole album, actually, and it's a shame it didn't do better saleswise.

I liked the whole album, actually, and it's a shame it didn't do better saleswise. I love it when that happens. I was in FYE to pick up a used copy of "Just Say Sire: The Sire Records Story" for cheap, when I passed a huge bin of CD's for.......$.25! Brand new, nonetheless. While almost all of it was total crap, I found a gem: "Jollification" by The Lightning Seeds. Their stuff is hard to get over here. When I had surgery in December of 2006, Nelson imported "Pure" for me through Mugsy's Records, and we listened to it on the way to the hosptial and back (to calm my nerves). So I snapped it up (even though nothing on it was familiar) and it's a fantastic cd. Well worth the quarter!

Oooh, I used to love to dig through the quarter bin at The Wherehouse (FYE's banner in CA). I found Maureen McCormick's CD in there, and I bought it just for novelty purposes. (I made sure to leave the huge flourescent ".25" price tag on it, though.

Good tune, but I have never found the song on any CD compilation. I'm glad you did.

Sure do, and I've always loved it. I also have the album it's from, on cassette. It reminds me in some ways of something that Donald Fagen might have written.
