This is from the early 80's. I found this ad extremely creepy when I saw it as a young'n. (Now it just looks like a Tron ripoff) There must've been another version, later, because I distinctly remember the announcer saying "101.1 FM *AND* AM 1430!!" at which point that disembodied hand would push a button on the radio making the display change to 1430. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxC_jchM3dII know this same animation was used by other radio stations at the same time, but I had never found the KFIG version until today.

Now the ad seems dated and a bit primitive. But at the time, it was the best one could do with the technology. Thanks for the link. ;D

Cool ad! That animation was fairly advanced for 1983. I vaguely remember seeing an ad somewhat like that back in the day, but can't recall which station it was for.

I think that was used for WDOK, 102.1, in the Cleveland market. However...this is from the COOLEST station around! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uJ83yM48-w&feature=related

Looking for something else I uncovered the originator of the creepy ad. It was made by JAM Creative Productions, one of the largest radio jingle houses. (The station I worked for had jingles done by them, I still have the reel to reel masters of them, too!) It was used in over 80 cities, according to their website: www.jingles.com/cgi-bin/photoalbum.pl?pic=7&era=album80&ret=jaminfo
