Haven't done one of these in awhile, so let's go back 24 years for a look at what was hot on the charts. Drive is my choice here, although I remember liking the Pointer Sisters track a lot back in the day. And Let's Go Crazy was the homecoming theme at my high school in my junior year - almost a quarter century ago! Does that ever make me feel old! I remember making a mix tape of songs recorded off the radio around that time, and Caribbean Queen, Hard Habit to Break, Lucky Star and I'm So Excited were all on it. I might even still have that ol' cassette somewhere. Comments, memories on these songs? Which one is your pick?

My choice was John Cafferty's On The Dark Side.
I remember my brother buying the 45 and hearing it regularly, I picked up the CD of the soundtrack to Eddie and The Cruisers later on in the late 80's.
I also recall recording both Drive and Cover Me off the radio onto a mix tape I was making at the time. I eventually recieved both albums as Christmas gifts that year.

May surprise a few people, but I went with I Just Called to Say I Love You. I was stationed in Greenland during virtually the whole of 1984. We got two morale calls to loved ones every week. I remember calling my wife in Oct 1984, and and when she answered I said I just called to say I love you. We had a great 15 minute phone call.

Lots of college memories! (RIP, Kearney State...now University of Nebraska-Kearney) But had to go with "Let's Go Crazy" just SLIGHTLY over "I'm So Excited"...

I went with "I just Called To Say I Love You" -- only without a great story like Woody's.
I've just always liked the song. - Guilty pleasure I guess, It's in my all time top 250.

I'll throw a vote towards "Lucky Star". I always liked that song by Madonna, and the music video was so simple, yet timeless...well, once you get past Madonna's fishnet stockings.

"I Just Called To Say I Love You", because it's upbeat and happy. I don't know why, but the other songs remind me of a very insecure period in my life.... I normally would have voted for The Cars or Chicago, but right now, I'm stickin' wit' Steeevie.
